Republicans Are Going To Toss Gordon Sondland Under The Bus

After the House released the transcript of U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland’s testimony, in which he confirmed there was, in fact, quid pro quo associated with the Trump-Giuliani pressure campaign in Ukraine, Republicans aren’t happy.

It’s going to take about a generation to reconstitute all the Federal agencies losing or being stripped of experienced employees doing the nitty-gritty work of the government.

I’m not quite seeing how Sondland is at fault for doing exactly what Trump and Giuliani asked/told him to do. But then, “logic” has played no part in recent Republican behaviors…

I read/ heard somewhere that Sondland was not just a rich guy who gave Trump’s campaign a $1M, he also convinced other rich guys to give to Trump’s campaign. So Republicans better think about what they are going to do to Sondland. Won’t they need other (not as rich as Koch, Mercer, Adelson, and et al) rich guys donations in the future?

They’re going to move Gym Jordan onto the House Intelligence Committee to defend Trump.
First, Gym Jordan on anything with the word “intelligence” in the title is an oxymoron. But, overlooking that…please proceed, GOP.

If what he was told to do was a crime, “just following orders” doesn’t work as a defense.

“lackey, a chest-thumper and a rube”

Does not sound inaccurate…

Unfortunately Sondlund couched his walk-back claiming some of the things he did are what he understood or perceived was what Trump ultimately wanted. We’re going to see a lot of GOPers claiming Trump was deceived, ill-served and misled by incompetent and self-serving underlings.

Oh, and “The buck stops here” was always a really stupid notion.

Lawmakers we spoke with called him a lackey, a chest-thumper and a rube.

But still not a liar?

I am sure this move will engender even greater loyalty in those folks who are implicated in L’affaire Ukrainienne but have not yet decided to perjur themselves on behalf of the Great Orange Beast. He’ll have your back, folks! Have it with a knife.

Thought same thing, the rich guys club may not like to see one of their own set up as fall guy. But was it the brightest idea to invest in the guy with 5 bankruptcies???
