“gee this Garland guy is not my favorite - can you show me someone else - someone who will be entirely oblivious to the President’s agenda - you know - ideologically sterile - like an impartial judge” (well, no… it is not like we really want impartial judges … just look at the agenda driven people that we have put on the Supreme Court - but we will demand that your nominees be totally absent of political / ideological preferences)
This filling the cabinet process started out kinda of OK - but there were about 12-15 Republican assholes who decided to pretend that this was an election for each position & that they would accordingly vote “NO” if the nominee was a Democrat - simply to be “oppositional” (- hasn’t Hawley opposed every single nominee?)… now it is really sliding toward disgusting unprincipled stupidity if Merrick Garland gets 45 + “NO” votes …

I know of one individual who is not listening to this in Senate Chambers…
- He is not particularly well-read on Senate procedure or the Constitution
- Up to fairly recently, he has not held elected office
- But he is keenly interested in this Confirmation

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took the argument a step further, blaming the “Obama-Biden Justice Department” for being “politicized and weaponized” in an unprecedented way.
Time to call a doctor, because Republicans are coming down with a serious case of selective amnesia for dates between Jan 2017 and Jan 2021.

We’re not even a month into the Biden administration and they’re crying about how mean nominees hurt their feelings on Twitter and that a respected official at the DoJ and now Associate Circuit Court judge is going all of sudden politicize the DoJ is laughable.
I know let’s ask Cornyn, Cruz, and Hawley for their pick of for the Biden administration’s nominee for AG.
Also how many current and former Republican senators voted for Garland’s nominations to the various government positions that he has held over the years?

As typos go, it’s interesting in that Cornyn’s is clearly a tabula rasa. It imprints with whatever is currently the GOP vogue and changes just as frequently.
