Fun read. Since it’s not a state, it is a bit more complicated, but short answer is that not all crimes in d.c. are federal, so no blanket pardons possible.

He was also in possession of 2 weapons with high capacity magazines and charged with possession of the which is illegal in DC. That should merit a no more guns anywhere order by a Judge and make this asshole a convicted felon…no more pea shooters for this limp dick.

At least an arguable point. Lotta stuff has happened in flashpoints like Portland where just sheer numbers means plenty of chargeable offenses have happened that were never charged.

“No bail until, say, Thursday morning.” If he has active warrants in NCIC, they should contact the issuing jurisdiction and ask if they wish to extradite. That should take a few days…
ETA: May be they deliver him where he is wanted and there is a hold on him-(like Charlottesville or Portland.) It might keep him off the phone for a couple days

Had to laugh when they said this time they’ll be wearing disguises and blend into the crowd. Dude was on the phone with a reporter on his way into town when the cops picked him up. You begin to wonder just how bright they are. The average corner drug market kids know how the cops work and how to counteract them. Why not these lummoxes? It’s a mystery.

It’s a legal definition. D.C. has a 10-round limit for magazines. All semi-automatic pistols can accept larger ones, standard size for Glock-19s, for example, is 17 rounds.
So looks like he just had two regular-sized magazines, nothing fancy, still illegal in d.c.

It saves time and money if you wait for the perp to return to the jurisdiction of his crime. Kind of like a dog revisiting its upchuck. Plus the timing is sweet.
