Reports Detail Unidentified Federal Law Enforcement Detaining Portland Protesters | Talking Points Memo

Yeah No. People in the suburbs, specifically women, are polling in favor of Black Lives Matter and not in favor of Trump.

How can these actions not constitute (1) heinous civil rights violations and (2) charges of kidnapping against those involved?

Pulled off the street by unidentified ā€œofficers,ā€ hustled into an unmarked car, driven to unnamed location by a circuitous route.
It’s a terror tactic, pure and simple.

This scares the sh- - out of me. I wrote all of my representatives this morning. I strongly suggest that you write as well.

Portland is a famously progressive city, yep. But Oregon was formed as a blacks-free state.

Once you get east of the 5 you might as well be in Alabama.

Shit.

O RBG I’m so sorry.

Next thing you know, they’ll be putting bags over the protestors heads when they arrest them.

Straight outta ā€œV for Vendettaā€

Einsatzgruppen. Sounds about right for Trump’s SS.

OT - Trump’s tiny tweet thumbs have been mighty quiet since the last one that is officially posted under his name (not staff, not retweets) – that was the night of July 15, when he officially threw Brad Parscale under the bus. Might he be ill? Que lastima!

Barr is probably going to hang his hat on ā€œanti-terrorismā€ exceptions to normal protocols – you’re right that these cosplay cops: 1) don’t identify themselves, 2) don’t give grounds for detaining people, 3) don’t Mirandize detainees. Only Neomi Rao and Samuel Alito would buy that these people are terrorists in the sense that congress intended when it gave extraordinary powers to law enforcement in cases of terrorism – but of course that assumes we have a justice system in a few months time…

We already have that. It’s called the GOP Senate.

Great Outreach for Barr.

When the government starts breaking the rules what are OUR obligations again?

Every time the GOP is in power they form a new government entity - DHS, ICE - and stick all their people in it. It’s what they do to keep power.

They are the Old South, sitting in backwater states, sucking down Federal dollars and working day and night to get their religious fundamentalists into government, and the colored back to the fields.

It’s taken a few years, but having tax-free churches underwrite privately owned radio has allowed them a propaganda monopoly and let them poison every American who drives to work.

This fight is the big one. We will see their true faces.

The acting DHS Sec claims the Governor ā€œaskedā€ him to remove his forces, and he made a big show of being a tough guy on Fox and said he wasn’t going to do that.

The governor needs to make is abundantly clear he is not asking. If the DHS personnel are not within their legal bounds - protecting federal property - order state and local law enforcement to arrest them.

These bastards will keep escalating what they can get away with until somebody pushes back. A confrontation is inevitable. Better to have it now while it can still be settled peacefully.

OH, no! I rail against cancer!

But she’s being very positive and happy with the results of her chemo so far. Here’s what Justice GInsberg says:

ā€œI have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that.ā€

Keep going, RGB
