Exactly why I was so upset when Obama did his “let’s not look backward” thing right after his election. Letting torture stand? I believe that served to further erode our principles as a nation, and this is just another milestone on that same road.

It’s always a ratcheting process, the torture being one of the latest examples of executive overreach, the first being George Washington’s handling of Shay’s rebellion.
