Former White House press secretary and Trump campaign adviser Kayleigh McEnany has turned over her texts to the House Jan. 6 Select Committee, according to ABC News.
At this point, the opportunists who worked in the Trump administration are probably our best hope. They werenât âtrue believersâ, but rather just amoral sociopaths* out to position themselves close to the seat of power and make money.
*Who still do not necessarily want to see the U.S. constitutional order overthrownâŚ
Considering she never lied, we will finally be able to get to the bottom of all this. I expect the committee to fold up their tent and just release her texts to the public, saying ânothing more to see here!â
Please wake me when they have some hearings. Actually, wake me after the hearings have started and let me know if they are as cringeworthy as Iâm afraid theyâll be. Then Iâll go back to sleep and wake up so I can read about it on TPM.
I was reading Dr. Marshallâs Ukraine Notes #2 where he wrote:
"Russiaâs plan appears to be to engineer the collapse or capitulation of the Ukrainian government. If you can do that with a bluff, great. "
This reminds me of what Trump, his Trumpettes, and Republican leadership are doing with their constant lies, distortions, and threats that are only ramping up in intensity and targeted viciousness. It appears that it is a political death by 1000 cuts approach, by constantly being in the news with made-up nonsense, threats, acting like he will return and take revenge on those that challenge him, etc. Putin obviously is in a stronger position, but not as strong as many think. I donât think he is crazy, but will push the limit and see who he can get cave so that he is in a stronger political position in dealing with the West. Trump is trying to stay relevant and keep out of jail. The news is looking worse for him each passing day, as his inner team has recently been handing over documents regarding his actions, and his personal liability through his business dealings is being investigated for cause, with both efforts bringing up major issues.
Whether any of Trumpâs actions were illegal or not will require a trial, but he sees (and knows) where this is all leading. (I unfortunately cannot serve on his jury as I have made up my mind.) So do others in his close team. So now, heâs going all out. He will be dangerous as will those who have accepted his lies because he tapped into their frustration and personal failures. A clear and open investigation of all aspects of Jan 6th events is necessary more than ever, regardless of the political costs for this country.
I think thereâs a lot of truth to this. Many of these people were just there to make money, raise their profile, etc. They wouldâve served in any GOP administration no matter how decent or how awful. They just donât care. And theyâre not going to go deep in their pockets paying legal fees to protect Trump or anybody else. Theyâre going to protect themselves and move on to the next grift.
