Two grand juries in Fulton County Georgia will likely soon be asked to consider issuing subpoenas in the investigation into possible election interference by former President Donald Trump, the county’s district attorney said.
Among other things, this will be a test of the judicial system – trump and all the other perps will no doubt do their best to quash, and if they get in front of pro-trump judges…
(Can someone explain, also, how the jurisdictional part works? The perps are domiciled elsewhere, but committed Georgia crimes – where does the court action take place?)
Georgia state courts, until the inevitable executive privilege claims and refusal to honor subpoenae, at which point our dilatory US supreme court will rule on the issues with alacrity, sometime during Biden’s second term.
On the one hand he has a point. On the other hand, he can effing wait in line behind a few hundred thousand people of color who can’t make bail for minor offenses.
As a non-violent, first time offender, conviction is unlikely to result in jail time, but I look forward to that mother fscker being the fist former President to get indicted and convicted.
Unfortunately for him, he was one of the nine oathkeepers videotaped in that snake line winding though the crowd. He’s not likely to get away with non-violent, and is going to be spending a nice stint in club fed.
So, how long until Donnie starts inciting his acolytes to take a hand in dealing with the Trump-hating people on the grand jury and in the Atlanta DAs office?
Somehow, I get the feeling it’s something he always had in mind.
ETA: If we’re lucky, his efforts will be seriously constrained by his fortunate absence from Twitter.
