Right now, I’ll take what we can get.
Unbelievable.
Twitter just suspended me for this:
Claiming it’s “targeted harassment”.
WTF?
Guess we can’t tweet contrary opinions about the wisdom of voting on Manchin’s BIF bill, or it will make Twitter’s algorithms mad.
Concur. In fact I doubt Biden is feeling as bad as he could be…(From Josh):
[“As TPM’s Kate Riga reported earlier and Congressional Progressive Caucus chair Pramila Jayapal confirmed in a statement just now, House progressives will back Biden’s framework, but they want to hear from the White House that problem-Senators Manchin and Sinema will vote for it (emphasis added) before the progressives, in turn, agree to advance the moderates’ much-prized bipartisan infrastructure framework (our friend BIF)”]
This gives his people something to work with.
The ones who should be looking incompetent are the GOP since they aren’t even pretending that they can govern at this point. They’re just sitting there making the occasional grandstanding speech. When half of Congress won’t even engage on the business they were elected to do, that should be the story and the target of ridicule and accusations of incompetence, not the 50% who are struggling to get things done with no margins.
Around here we have discobot lurking over our shoulders and passing judgement on various infractions. Like posting a link someone else did 150 posts earlier on a thread.
edit
Next time use no names I guess. Just the office one holds and some other milquetoast identifying characteristics… like “that dude from West Virginia”
Succinct…and true…and, for the life of me, I can only surmise that the BeltWay Boys really are against the things in this legislation**
**which would greatly help the American people
I agree about setting arbitrary deadlines. Legislating isn’t easy, it’s a mess process.
Right, but right now we got nothing. And if you look at this from the outside, just Joe Blow watching the Nightly news on teevee, or hearing it on his radio, just the news part regardless of the radio station, it’s the Democrats that did not get these bills done, and the longer it goes on the stupider the Democrats look. Even if it’s only two stupid moronic bought slimy assholes out of 80 million Democrats, it’s still going to be labeled as the Democrats didn’t get it done, and Joe’s going to this summit with you know what in his hand.
Sausage making indeed. And McConnell is dancing in his underwear for joy because it still isn’t done.
When do you think it’s going to get done? January? March?, wait I know, after it’s too late to do any good for the Country before the elections in 2022.
This should have been finished July 2, 2021. Whose fault was that? Mine? Obama’s? sniffit’s?
I mean, really, what we need isn’t that complicated. We need to get vaccinated, we need to improve our decrepit infrastructure so we can generate power much more efficiently and with less greenhouse gases, we need to expand the social infrastructure so people can work without spending all their money on child care and health care and student loan debt because the states stopped funding their colleges because of Reagan and his manipulators. We need to have billionaires pay their fair share. And we need to make sure we can vote and have our votes fairly represent our communities.
And we need to hold trump and his ilk accountable for their treason, but that’s not part of the bills at hand, but needs doin.
It’s not the algorithms mad, it’s the someone who reported your comment. It’s what losers do when they can’t argue back.
Jayapal went back to her homebase later in the day. Here is what she said: “There are too many no votes for the vote to pass today, We do need the text and we do need the vote on both bills in the House at the same time."
Note this: No vote by the “progressives” on the infrastructure bill until they vote on the BBB bill. Anything else that folks here think is their position is wrong. Full stop.
I think the other half of it is that you can’t really have a horserace when half the horses don’t even leave the starting line. They don’t know how to report on that, so they have to obsess over the horses that are moving, even if the ones absent from the scene should be the ones under the microscope.
Investigative reporting is expensive and doesn’t bring in lots of money so they want everything to be able to fit into a “he said, she said” framework and call it a day. When it won’t, they tend to ignore it because they don’t know what they should be doing instead nowadays.
Well…no big rally for Trump. He will phone it in.
Donald Trump will reportedly hold a tele-rally for Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin on Monday as polls in the governor’s race have tightened
.
You also need several million fellow citizens to go along with you. Good luck on that one. Manchin and Sinema obviously feel it is politically safe for them to make the decisions they make and unfortunately, they may be right. We don’t have enough Americans who want to get vaccinated or save the planet or help themselves with something like free community college or make corporations and billionaires pay their fair share.
From the article:
["House progressives streamed out of that meeting and into another, huddling among themselves to decide what to do next. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), chair of the caucus, came out with a verdict: progressives need text of the reconciliation bill and a commitment from Biden that he has all 50 votes in the Senate before they’ll vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
It’s a softening of previous positions she’s held, when she demanded a Senate vote on the reconciliation bill before they’d budge on the bipartisan one — and a sign of the very high levels of trust in the President among the caucus. "]
It’ll get done after the VA Gov. Race, cuz that means more money for Manchin and Sinema to hold it off until then.
I believe Upton Sinclair applies here. Not the salary we pay her, but the one that’s allowed her to add $928,000 to her net worth since 2018
Manchin just now starting to do some reading about how family leave works in other countries just chaps my hide.
What the hell was he doing with himself all summer?
Should have suggested that leadership eat horsepaste instead. Twitter seems fine with that
OT, but just so you can keep up on our next POTUS’s huge successes!
Sigh…
“They were writing non-stop negative stories about COVID in Florida and implying that it was the governor’s fault,” Pushaw told Fox News. “But now that we have the lowest infection rate in the entire country, those same media outlets are silent. So, you would think, if it was his fault at the peak, why isn’t his credit right now?”
Because, you stupid cow, when your strategy for a pandemic is “meh, let’s just let them all get it and we’ll just deal with all the death and eventually, it will run it’s course” that is, by definition, FAILING TO ADDRESS THE PANDEMIC…and no amount of “well, now that everyone got it, there’s nobody left who can get it so yay us!” AFTER the pandemic changes that you failed DURING the pandemic.
Fucking data manipulating whores.
The only states worse off than Florida are (a) the red states that left it up to God and spite and (b) the three densely populated port states that were first hit before we had any COVID plans or mitigation in place and were scrambling to understand what to do.
It’s beyond out of control at this point and yeah, it’s social engineering through disinformation propaganda and 100% designed to lead to violence. Good example:
Of course, they spring into in-depth, non-stop, 24/7 investigative reporting for weeks on end if a pink woman disappears, or a celebrity accidentally shoots a film crew member.
So there’s that…
