Prosecution Makes Final Closing Argument In Ahmaud Arbery Murder Case | Talking Points Memo

Allegedly there were some burglaries in the neighborhood, Arbery was seen on camera apparently multiple times inside a partially-finished house at a construction site, they thought he might be the burglar they were looking for. Since only one burglary was reported, no trail to verify whether there were or weren’t several.

Don’t be too shocked if there is.

It was just her way of calling Ahmaud the N word, without using the word.

She was betting on at least a couple on the jury to understand and agree…

I agree, she is very good, persuasive. I hope for Ahmaud and his family her that arguments and powerful prosecution is enough for the jury to convict the S.O.B’s.

Was it? I thought it was more of a way to highlight that he wasn’t wearing socks, which goes to the question of how many joggers don’t wear socks while jogging, and thus the question of whether he was actually just out for a run.

As long as they don’t get their guns stolen out of their vehicles. LOL.

I know it’s pro-forma, but these jury instructions sound like a how-to on acquittal by any means.

Shit, this early, they can acquit and make it home for lunch.

So it was a citizens arrest for running without socks?

Yes. It was.

“Work from the bottom of the indictment,” Dunikoski suggested to the jury, meaning: Start with the least serious charges,

OK. The jury will find the defendants guilty of littering.

The storyline looks pretty simple then. The police weren’t doing anything because they didn’t have evidence of a crime, just trespassing which may or may not have been criminal in nature, so the good folks had to take it upon themselves to keep the neighborhood safe, and golly, note that this runner wasn’t even wearing socks, so what was he actually doing there, then they were forced to shoot when he tried to grab their gun.

Really wouldn’t surprise me, especially given Rittenhouse, that that ends up being enough to tip the scales for the jury.

Existing while black.

Seems pretty obvious to me that there’s no felony to justify a citizen’s arrest (outside their imagination) and that everything subsequent was dirty AF, but I wouldn’t trust a GA jury any farther than I can throw them collectively (and they like them some BBQ).

No felony, but just enough questions to ease the jury’s minds that this wasn’t some innocent kid on the way to choir practice, so they’ll be able to acquit without it standing on their conscience.

How about: Black guy running around in white neighborhood? That has been a crime for centuries.

And they have to do it today, those turkeys don’t fry themselves, and they have to be perfectly thawed.

And then you’ve gotta get in line early for those black Friday deals at Walmart, so for sure don’t want anything that risks missing a great deal on a tv.

Snark aside, yup, think this is coming today, they’re not going to waste time with going through things unless they’ve got a holdout.
