Pro-Filibuster Manchin Really Really Wants His GOP Colleagues To Support Jan 6 Commission | Talking Points Memo

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) on Thursday took aim at Republican senators’ argument for opposing the House-passed Jan. 6 commission bill, a rationale that puts partisan gains over accountability for the deadly Capitol insurrection that former President Trump incited.

But does Manchin want it as much as I want him to go fuck himself? That’s the real question.

The time for “pretty please” has long passed.

Boy, after all his talk of bi-partisan this, institutions that, is Manchin ever going to look like a clueless, out of touch asshole if 10 votes can’t put this over the line.

Edit: I did not see this:

“I’m not ready to destroy our government,” Manchin said

Well, trumps supporters are and already tried. On 1/6. Maybe we should have a commission about it? Just a thought.

And I really, really want to undo every last second of the 4 years t rumpp was President. Sorry, Manchin. Ain’t gonna happen. Fortunately for all of us, there is still a way you can get this Commission established, and you know damn well what that way is.

Well Joe, either talk them into it or get out of the way. Those are your choices.

“I’m not ready to destroy our government,”

These are not the words of a man who is leaving himself an out. Manchin is going to render these 4 years a waste of time and hand the country back to the GQP at the end of it.

I’m frankly starting to wonder what size the check he was promised will be in 2025.

Joe’s reaching across the aisle is going to crash and burn versus ‘Don’ McConnell’s “personal appeal” to embrace the terrorists and kill the 1/6 commission.

“I’m not ready to destroy our government,” Manchin said. “I think they will come together, you have to have faith that there’s 10 good people.”

Someone needs to read the story of Lot in the Bible to Joe Manchin. The part where God said he would spare Sodom and Gomorrah if Lot could find just two righteous men. Didn’t happen then…aint gonna happen now

One could argue the filibuster has already destroyed our government.

Who really thinks there are 10 reasonably honest senators on the Republican side of the aisle?

Destroy? I think you mean restore a functioning government. The one thing that almost every American agree on is we need to change this broken system.

And hoping for 20% good people in the ranks of Senate Republicans… It’s not your first week in the Senate Joe. You know there are not 10 good people.

It’s past time for Manchin to demonstrate that these “10 good people” he refers to actually exist. To date there’s been no evidence.

Extra disgusting even for the blood blister known as Mitch McConnell.

there have got to be so many poison pills in that legislation that even if it passes it will be meaningless

at least manchin will go down in US history as a major impediment to the nation’s longevity, so he’s got that going for him

Ticking time bombs embedded in the founding documents did that.
