The damage done by Trump’s executive orders can be undone. There will be competent people in charge of the various executive branches. The EPA will be relevant again, and can reinstate pollution controls. There will be a new Attorney General who will be working for the American people and the rule of law, and not his pet theory of the Imperial Presidency. There will be a new head of the State Department who can begin repairing our foreign relations.
That ain’t nothing. Sure, we won’t get massive progressive projects like an expansion of the ACA unless Dems take the Senate. But let’s not ignore how much damage Trump has done by the combination of executive order and surrounding himself with con men and clowns at the head of government.

This is just magical thinking meant to pacify Trump. “Don’t worry, little Donnie, everything will just be hunky-dory by October at the latest and you will get re-selected.”
In the real world, stocks might still be OK but the part of the economy most people depend on will still be in the toilet. As has been said here and other places, it is going to take a Marshall Plan level of effort to repair the damage wrought by COVID-19 and Trump’s lack of response to it.
