Look who’s running for Prez in 2024.
Portman Urges Trump To ‘Move Forward’ After Lawsuits Couldn’t Prove Mass Fraud | Talking Points Memo
I hope Trump reads this, or has it read to him more likely, and gets even with them by causing them to lose the Senate by telling the MAGATs to stay home.
Fuck. Now Applebaum is coming after you, Emily.
Well, no. She is not doing her honest duty. She is behaving badly, dishonestly, unfairly. She is violating the Constitution of the United States of America by refusing to recognize that the election is over, that Trump’s lawsuits and legal games are frivolous, and that the transition has begun. But she, like so many others in the White House, seems to believe the exact opposite: that it is part of her job to support radical, norm-breaking, democracy-destroying lies. Like so many others in the Republican Party, she appears to think that election results do not need to be accepted; that legal votes can be challenged; that courts and political pressure can be used to change the result.
Portman’s response sure was flaccid…
Yep. While I’m not making excuses, I think the we’re about to see exactly what the GOP has been afraid of all along: running so afoul of Trump that he takes his base with him and torches the GOP on the way out.
Let it be so and let it happen soon so that Gov. Beshear can appoint his replacement.
Transl: “I wouldn’t f&ck you with someone else’s genitalia.”
I agree. I’m convinced – and have been since the moment he lost – that he’s going to split the party. The strange marriage he has with the GOP can’t last in the environment we’re moving into, and once they start pulling against him, he’ll take his people with him and go.
Portman goes off into the weasel weeds at a point or two … but ultimately gets the big picture correct .
It must be so difficult, trying to stay balanced on that tightrope. On one side, all the GOP’s supporters have pitchforks and kitchen knives and are loving watching the house burn down while threatening anyone who tries to put it out. On the other, well, the house is on fire.
Either way, that tightrope and everyone precariously standing on it is finished.
I do like it that he pointed out that the irregularities which might have occurred were no different from those that occur in all elections.
Seems like Rob is in desperate need of a grope…
It was obvious from the start that Trump would go to the courts to fight a loss, rather than call out the ProudBoys, or refuse to move out of the White House, or otherwise fight, in some sort of literal way.
All the press about this stuff was just the constant news cycle looking for eyeballs.
Trump took things to court and has lost time and time again. He’s exhausted and exhausting. Everyone knows it, even his defenders. Even the ProudBoys. They see Trump’s efforts struck down, time and again. (Sadly, I’m afraid they don’t see that Trump’s failures on this account reflect massive failures in just about everything else he’s done in governing, or attempting to “govern.”)
Yes, it was pretty limp. He seems very soft on the issue. But he never was a man to make a hard decision.
So, the enablers are now meekly requesting that the Dotard toddler stop pissing on democracy.
The silver lining in this farce is that the monster they’ve allowed to run amok will turn his ire on them.
“Grab 'em by the Portman! You can do that if you’re President!”
I think he will. It’ll provide him with the best opportunities for grifting. Sticking with the Republicans would mean his gravy train’s going to end. He doesn’t want their hands on his checks – and the thought that he’d raise money for them is just laughable.
Dumbo is the Kyle Rittenhouse of Presidents.
There is a tidal wave of the Who’s Who in Republican politics beginning to be rolling toward Trump …
and somebody better tell him the when he runs to pound on the SC’s door - there is going to be a voice on the other side that growls “GO AWAY!”
Normally I would think these Republicans slithering out 1 by 1 to mildly request that Trump do the opposite of what he’s done his entire life (admit he’s wrong) is pointless, but given he’s bunkered in his bedroom watching Fox News and OAN all day, he’s likely seeing these through out the day and it’s making every hour of each day more miserable, that is worth whatever pointless statements the rest of the GOP makes.
Yeah, I think they’re jumping now that Schwartzman gave the “all clear.”
