Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave a brief but testy response on Wednesday to Ambassador Gordon Sondland’s open testimony, which shed light on Pompeo’s involvement in President Donald Trump’s Ukraine scheme.
I don’t think that going Sgt. Schultz on us is going to get you off, asshole. It is obviously time to make another trip to Kansas and hide behind the Kochs.
“I was working” is shorthand for ‘I was frantically advancing the extremist agenda of my paymasters and generally tugging on the righthand side of the Overton window as hard as I can before I inevitably have to spend more time with my family and reap a harvest of fat directorships.’
Pompeo said he “didn’t see a single thing today” because he was “working.”
“Sounds like you might not have been,” Pompeo quipped.
Except part of a reporter’s job is to listen to and watch what’s going on, and then ask questions of the people involved or implicated - especially if those people are government employees and the thing they’re implicated in is corrupt or illegal.
Oh no, Mike, I was working. This is my job, asking traitors like you to account for themselves and then reporting on the half-truths and outright lies I hear in response.
If he doesn’t run, that increases the odds Kobach will win the primary and open the doors for a Dem or an independent taking the Kansas Senate seat. Win-win.
How about: Ambassador Sondland testified that you directed the scheme to hold up military aid to Ukraine unless they agreed to announce a phony investigation to discredit Job Biden? What, if any, facts do you have to dispute his testimony?
I am so f’n tired of these poor questions from lazy reporters and congresspeople. Doesn’t anyone prepare?
I can’t wait to see Kevin James play him in the movie. It wasn’t enough for him to act smug by openly declaring that he wasn’t following the most important news story of the day, as if ignorance somehow excused him from commenting. The added insult of suggesting that journalism isn’t a job is truly bizarre.
These people can’t help themselves. Every president hates the media at some point, but this is the first modern presidency that openly taunted reporters and declared them the enemy. The Bushies had them wrapped around their fingers, while the Trumpers can’t help but dig themselves deeper with attacks.
