Pompeo Admits He ‘Definitely’ Disagreed With Bolton Sometimes

The North Koreans have lawn darts now? Diabolical!

So is this an indication that Bolton is a bridge too far for even this WH?? Didn’t we cringe upon his appointment for that reason?

“Blah, blah, blah…”

“No comment. I’ve already said to much by saying just that. The children! The resorts!”

“That’s the dumbest question I’ve ever been asked!”

“Never met the guy. John who?”

“I believe I’ve already answered that.”

“Rosebud.”

Reminds me of the old line from a Tom Lehrer song intro on That Was the Week that Was: “China, which we called Red China, exploded a nuclear bomb, which we called a device.”

The beat goes on:

The Education Department is intervening on behalf of student loan servicers, some accused of illegally exploiting borrowers, by declining to turn over information to law enforcement agencies in multiple states investigating the businesses, some consumer advocates say.

The department’s reluctance to share data from or about student loan servicers was revealed in documents and correspondence to the Senate education subcommittee recently obtained by NBC News.

Perhaps Boris Johnson can quit as PM and accept this position and kill two birds?

I found this part to be… revealing. Classless, and lacking of poker-face as the disdain kind of leaks through the cheap laughter:

When asked if they were blindsided by the news of Bolton’s departure — Bolton himself apparently was — Pompeo laughed.

Of course that could have just could have been akward moment laughter? Right?

Anybody have “Bolton turned out to be the adult in the room” on their bingo cards? I didn’t.

To paraphrase the great Charlie Pierce - the new writers of our national tragi-sitcom are batshit crazy.

Not leaving quietly. Does that mean he will be dishing dirt or writing a scathing book in the near future?

A couple of reporters from the major news outlets (don’t recall who) said on MSNBC about the disagreement over fired or quit that Bolton knows how D.C. works and he’s not afraid to fight back. He’s already been talking and texting with his version of events, and he’s voicing his true feelings about some things, including Trump’s “policies.” Apparently, a Bolton scorned is a dangerous thing.

This could be fun.

Could be both.

Classless because that is who Pompeo is and always was. Awkward because he’s probably next.

Why does Pompeo think he can run the White House foreign policy when it’s Jared who clearly is the acting president? Trump is the figurehead and he’s the power. The kid isn’t into any three person triumvirate with any military man. He’s got the Old Fart under his thumb and isn’t going to let anyone else edge him out.
