Had a bad bout with the munchies once. Me and a buddy preheated the oven to make a cake. Friend’s house, cabinets empty, parents in Florida, only damned food around to make.

Little did we know effing Clint had hid a pound in the oven for “safekeeping”. Once we realized the house was in fact not on fire we just sat down in a couple easy chairs and breathed deeply for a good long time.

I’m sitting here on Central European Time in a hotel bar, and the tee vee with CNN has been on “BREAKING NEWS: AT LEAST ONE DEAD” for all of the last half fucking hour at least, so yeah, it’s still considered news. Or maybe “news”.

If it bleeds, it leads. I’m about to vomit in my Pilsner.

Edit: one solid hour and counting.

Edit 2: the bartender finally said “screw it” and switched to a soccer game. The tattered shreds of my sanity survive to fight again another day.

Just had a lock down at one of our high school about 30 miles away. They say all is clear now (was locked down from 10:15 to 10:45) and the lock down has been lifted. How is this kind of fear affecting our kids emotional stability? Their future mental health?

The local sheriff’s department just announced that the school shooter (a student himself) shot students until he had one bullet left. Then he shot himself.

It was a terrible event, but it could have been even worse if the shooter had had a gun with a larger magazine.

The NRA will probably say that magazine size is not important because, in this case, the shooter was able to kill people using a gun with a small magazine. That argument is BS. If he had had more bullets he likely would have shot more people – only stopping when there was one bullet left.
