White House senior advisor David Plouffe defended President Obama’s remarks on Trayvon Martin against attacks from Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, who accused the President of dividing people and politicizing the incident. On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Plouffe said that in many ways, the GOP primary has been “more of a circus show and a clown show,” adding that their comments were “hard to stomach” and “trying to appeal to people’s worst instincts.”
