Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccine Will Start Arriving In States On Monday | Talking Points Memo

WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation’s first COVID-19 vaccine will begin arriving in states Monday morning, U.S. officials said Saturday, after the government gave the final go-ahead to the shots needed to end an outbreak that has killed nearly 300,000 Americans.

Here’s hoping the WH doesn’t try to interfere with where the deliveries take place. Between now an next week, anything is possible.

This is a promising development, but it’s a tiny bit of what the nation needs, and it’d clear the Trump administration has not planned out how to distribute this to everyone. Getting it to medical personnel is critically important though, we need every single one with the path that CIVOD is tearing through the people, every doctor or nurse that falls ill or dies means many more sick and dead Americans who they would have helped.

I’m hoping that the people doing this job manage to get past the Trump administration incompetence, and that the incoming Biden administration is able to handle the virus response and vaccinations the way it should have been done from the beginning. We still have at least six months before things will really be better, and we can start to live more safely, but it’s likely now going to take until 2022 before this is all over, and even then we won’t go back to normal but find a new normal instead.

I’m just waiting for the anti-vaxxer deplorebels to storm the vaccination sites.

Gotta fight the hoax that stole the election, right?

OT the Wisconsin Federal suit was dismissed with prejudice by the Trump appointed judge.

back in the day Birx still had some respect her correspondence with the governor here was explained as communication…
the estimated delivery here now for Category 1A won’t cover half of the health care workers, with none of the nursing homes supplied… and rumor is the original number is being cut

reagents used in vaccine production are gone, used up in the recipe for the testing program…

hiccups? I hope it’s not strangulation.

Why assume that the Trumpsters are getting it right?

As was the Wisconsin Supreme Court suit being argued at the same time.

WH has already rigged distribution to favor red states over blue states. Hopefully, Biden will be able to sort that out.

I do know of folks who are scheduled to receive vaccines within the next 2 weeks so that is encouraging.

I’m looking forward to seeing my parents get the vaccine.

This is a nice early ‘stimulus’ if you will for the incoming Biden Administration.

They can send as much as they want to red states, most Trumpers won’t get it.

So many great artists have passed due to COVID. The other day Harold Budd; one of my musical heroes and today…

Edit: it saddens me to add Charley Pride. Just heard. Tears. RIP Charley

RIP Carol, Harold and all the others.

Between the morons like Rand Paul who complain about forced vaccinations and having his freedoms taken away and the other morons like anti-vaxxers who are afraid of everything, I think there will be plenty to go around for those of us who want to be safe and for the pandemic to end.

In a ghastly world, there are people like this that go beyond everything to provide help.

This doctor has fought covid-19 in his patients for 267 days straight. ‘I was meant to do this.’

Someone exposed to so many Covid patients and is still standing and working totally blows my mind.

I wonder about all those holier-than-thou congregations of unrepentant superspreaders, who will likely demand to be first in line.

But of course, how can you want a vaccine for a hoax?

Good grief. Hadn’t even thought about that, but it certainly can’t be ruled out.

Is that the doctor who appeared in a WP photo hugging a frail, elderly patient who was crying? I think I read he worked about that many days straight.

Yup, that’s the one, works in a hospital in Houston. Originally from Mexico and said he got his training early on in a major earthquake in Mexico City where the hospital was destroyed colleagues and patients died, now this. Obviously made of tougher stuff than most people. People think his sense of humor is what gets him through.

“Perna compared the effort to D-Day, the U.S.-led military offensive that turned the tide in World War II.”

Really.

Seen on the screen today - Pfizer video showing vaccine being packed into what appears to be standard U-Line cold pack boxes. Medicines and food are routinely shipped in these boxes.

Also routine and off-the shelf for use in shipping food and medicine are bluetooth temperature monitors with a variety of advanced capabilities.

So, we have UPS and FedEx handling 600 shipment - Fedex alone handles 6 million shipments a day. UPS and FedEx prepared their own planes for dry ice shipments - not WarpSpeed.

I suspect that shipments to destination within 1000 miles of Michigan are by truck - with no issues re dry ice in planes.

All the work here is being done by Pfizer in preparing and packing the shipments into boxes and coming this week, the work of hospitals and state health departments in state wide distribution. Operation Warp Speed has offloaded the later task onto states.

The WarpSpeed people are so full of themselves - D-Day indeed.

Beware the flacking.

This is going to be the biggest cluster fuck in American history. The rest of the world will be watching us in fascination while they and their families are safe.

“The first shipments are expected to leave Pfizer’s manufacturing plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan,”
