Performative Austerity Vanishes As GOP Flees Town Before Trump's Dictator-Style Parade

“Bookending the week of overreach on state sovereignty with a garish military parade — which will involve rolling out 150 military vehicles and more than 50 aircraft into the streets of the capital — has at least one Republican comparing it to a scene out of North Korea.”
… … … … …
Tanks, APC’s, mobile artillery… 150 vehicles. Has anyone figured out where they will go and regroup at the end of the parade? The National Mall might offer enough room. Or not…

The fact that Democrats lose again and again to these motherfucking cowards is a testament to how fucking useless the left in this country has become. We fought the American Revolution, won the Civil War and stood up to Henry Ford’s goon squads and we can’t beat these fucks? Jesus Christ

Until 1965 there were no immigration quotas for people in the New World coming to America. If you were not a criminal and had the resources to support yourself, you were in.

This included people from Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico & Central America, and South America.

In 1965 the US abandoned the quota system that focused on Asia, Europe, etc. and instead managed immigration worldwide based on family relationships and desirable job skills.

Okay! Speaking as one who has been clueless since the 1960s (and that’s a long time), how do “demonstrations” help? By these, I mean

  • Walking down the street with signs
  • Standing around with signs, often changing
  • Performatively starving yourself to death – or burning yourself to death

How do these things lead to the governmental/corporate actions that you wish to promote? Do they clearly convey what actions you want to see?

Seriously. I saw coverage of the Million Female March opposing Trump, and he didn’t to away or moderate, and he’s back now, bigger and more vicious than ever. Ditto for all the marches since then. Clearly, I’m missing something?

“One of the most dependable formulations in political commentary is that Democrats are responsible for everyone vaguely, even just aesthetically, associated with the left, while Republican politicians can directly fraternize with neo-Nazis and still claim ideological distance.”

Ya think?

In both stupidity and in obeisance to his masters in the Kremlin, RoJo does face a very competitive landscape, and yet he always seems to manage, somehow.

How Does Protest Lead to Governmental and Corporate Change?

Theory of Change:

  1. Energizes the Base: Protests recharge participants by providing solidarity and morale among like-minded people.
  2. Shapes the Narrative: They attract media coverage and spread counter-messaging, challenging official narratives.
  3. Signals Support for Institutional Resistance: Public demonstrations show judges, civil servants, and other officials that they are not alone if they choose to resist unjust policies.
  4. Demonstrates Broad Public Opposition: Visible dissent communicates to the world—and to domestic audiences—that current policies do not reflect the will of the people.
  5. Builds Organizational Capacity: Protests are a springboard for organizing larger and more sustained actions such as walkouts, sit-ins, strikes, and boycotts.
  6. Triggers Overreaction: Government repression at protests can backfire, drawing sympathy, widening the protest base, and undermining regime legitimacy.
  7. Disrupts Power: Diverts government attention and resources away from other harmful actions.

Sustained collective action depends on visible, organized public support.

Imagine you’re a judge deciding a case with political stakes. If the streets are full of demonstrators defending democracy, you’re more likely to rule with courage. If they’re empty, you’re more likely to feel isolated—and silent.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Public pressure must be visible, persistent, and strategic.

Toxic chemical leak at Ohio explosives plant prompts no-fly zone, mass evacuations
A massive chemical leak spewed toxic orange plumes of dangerous acid into the sky, forcing a no-fly zone and mass evacuations near an explosive plant in Ohio, according to reports.

About 3,000 gallons of nitric acid was released from an enormous tank at the Austin Powder Red Diamond Plant in McArthur – which manufactures explosives used for mining and construction – around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Vinton County spokesperson told WLWT.

Spillage from the 5,000-gallon take caused officials to evacuate nearby roadways and the Village of Zaleski, home to about 750 residents, with a shelter set up at Vinton County High School for evacuees, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office said.

I have become a fan of Earl Stevens in the last couple of months. This is definitely one I want to pass along. As a former Editor of Stars and Stripes he is still pretty connected to Military journalism.

Most of the Republicans who spoke to the media about their planned absence suggested they had other plans

Possibly attending No Kings rallies.

RFK Jr. picks new members of influential vaccine committee after purge

His picks for the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices include a well-known pediatric infectious-diseases expert and at least three people who have criticized the use of mRNA coronavirus vaccines. Some of the more notable selections include Martin Kulldorff, the co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration, which called for herd immunity through mass covid infection in 2020, and Vicky Pebsworth, who is listed on the board of the nation’s oldest anti-vaccine group.
