Perdue Takes First Step Toward A Run Against Warnock In 2022

I am not worried about Kelly or Warnock. I really want the GQP to primary as many people like Rubio as possible. In a lot of states they have enough power to wreck the primary for a traditional Republican but not enough to succeed statewide against a strong Democrat.

With Trump gunning hard for Kemp in 2022, it’s going to be impossible for Perdue to distance himself from Trump in any way. We all saw how well that worked out for him in 2020.

Will Trump support Kemp in 2022? Remember Kemp didn’t deliver GA to Trump. Trump holds grudges.

Trump is going to involve himself in the Republican primaries to shoot down Kemp. I’m guessing Doug Collins may run, perhaps even MTG with Trump’s full support?

Perdue will have to get past Loeffler first.

Once MAGA candidate appears and splits GOP vote, which already was insufficient for re-election, Georgia will remain Two Blue for quite some time.

Donald Trump is like herpes. He’ll flare up and ruin things, just as its getting heated.

It is interesting that Perdue is the strongest potential candidate that the republicans can find to run. Either they think that Warnock was a fluke win in a Democratic wave, or they think they can get their “fix” back in to steal the election, they are in real trouble. The Democrats in that state look pretty organized these days, so republicans may be bowing smoke here.

More likely that they will pull out all the stops to run the most racist campaign in 40 years to make sure that the N-clang is not accidentally reelected.

Can you imagine Stacy Abrams against MTG. That would be interesting. I think the Neoconfederate party is going to find out if the South is going to rise again.

While Perdue entering the race will mean that Dems will have to raise a ton of money, he’s a much easier opponent to deal with because they can run the same game plan: he’s corrupt and will use his power to line his own pockets instead of helping Georgians. He’ll be a tool of McConnell. Warnock will also have some quality receipts with the COVID bill and a recovered economy. Two Black candidates will be on the statewide ballot next year, so I think the turnout model will be a bit more favorable to Ds than even the run off elections were. The goal for Dems, in addition to generating high minority turnout, is to see if they can grow their white voter share into the mid-30s. Dems grew their share of white voters from 21% to 30% between '16 and '20. That gain of 9 percentage points (43% increase) was among the highest for Dems nationwide. If GA is to become VA 2.0, then getting that white voter share number in the 35%-40% range will be key.

Gerrymandering does not affect statewide races.

That’s why voter suppression was invented.

He will never wash away the stench of his trading scandals. Or the fact he comes off as an entitled, wealthy prick. Warnock should win against him. But I doubt Perdue will win the primary.

Amen. That’s the biggest reason he lost to Ossoff.

trump could be dead or in jail by 2022. And without Twitter he only really has access to the people already on his mailing lists. (Now that he’s not president, we’ll see how many of his surrogates he keeps). I see this a little bit like the collapse of Alexander’s empire, only with may more local satraps fighting over the spoils and each trying to enforce their idea of the emperor’s legacy.
