A federal grand jury has indicted a Pennsylvania man for threatening President Joe Biden, House Jan. 6 Committee chair Bennie Thompson (D-MS), and a federal judge.
Not in his case. Heâs so dumb that he sent these threats from jail. Correspondence from prisons and jails are stamped letting the recipient know that the sender is an inmate and where theyâre housed. Considering theyâre charging him just nine days later, finding him was probably like looking for a needle in a sewing kit.
Problem is, there will be a whole lot more of these threats.
The more of them there are, the greater the probability that one of the threats becomes a reality. With the mentally ill people out there who have no filter and all the support of much of the media and party apparatchiks (to wit, Jan 6), itâs only a matter of time before someone they donât like winds up pushing up daisies.
Trump has wielded a wrecking ball to our society. And, to get a sense of what that means, those of us who were practicing our rights of citizenry some 30 or so years are going to have to go back and make some comparisons.
We are going to have to use the resultant perspective and reclaim our Democracy.
I wonder if a reporter could find out if any of these fine people actually voted in 2020, or even 2016? I donât need to know who they voted, like duh, but did they do their civic duty. And it would be interesting to know how the county they lived in voted.
No problem if you lock them all up. Let the sentencing begin. These people are cowards. When they see the prison sentences (and fines), they will shut up and go away.
Any deranged right-wing nut job attacking the FBI recently? No. Not after the first and only one was properly dealt with.
A House committee that has been investigating the Jan. 6 attack will hold its next prime-time hearing Thursday and says it continues to receive fresh evidence each day.
ETA Oh, never mind. That article was from July. Well, I hope there are more and the same holds true.
About Trump: he actually did more than taking a wrecking ball to our society.
He made it ânormalââŚand he did it bit by bitâŚever becoming more the authoritarianâŚever more the Post Truth liarâŚand ever more normalizing it in GOP behaviorâŚfrom candidate to minion to voter
Yes, but what damage can they wreak before theyâre caught and prosecuted?
Most of the derangement revolves around being above the law and âit canât happen to meâ. I donât know that those that have been caught and jailed are an actual deterrent.
In this case, it doesnât look like there was any chance of success.
Still, I favor booking these thugs: their threats and acts are warping the discourse in the public sphere and intimidating folks whoâre doing their jobs. Itâs past time a price was attached to their little excursions.
