There’s no way Pence could ever be impeached over this because he can always fall back on the excuse that he’s clueless. It’s not even that much of a stretch in his case. The fact is, I doubt there’s any evidence against Pence that rises to the level of Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian President, and that’s the only sort of evidence that could actually work in an impeachment trial.
Simply proving that it would be hard not to know something given Pence’s position or his actions is never enough. He’ll need to be elected out of office if we wish to be rid of him.
Believe it or not, the religious right in Arizona (at least my little neck of the woods in Mesa) was acting as if Pence had been elected president after the election. They were overjoyed that this evangelical had been placed so close to power.
He has a constituency, but it is definitely a minority. The anti-abortionists and the anti-LGBTQ crowd quite adore him, and for many of them, there are no other real issues.
This whole “investigate corruption” thing is bullshit. What they wanted was to have Ukraine to manufacture some nefarious evidence about Biden pulling strings.
“And what I know is that the transcript of the President’s call with President Zelensky shows that there was no quid pro quo. He did nothing wrong.”
A statement that shows Pence does not know the meaning of “quid pro quo,” does not know right from wrong, and will not self-impeach while he sits at the right hand of Trump.
Of course he knew, he had someone on the phone call and went to Ukraine to talk to Zelensky. There’s no way he does that without getting the background…and he just went along with what Trump wanted, probably because he’s just as happy to cheat in an election to win, figuring that Trump needs to win so he can win in 2024.
The good thing here is that Pence really doesn’t like Trump (who is the antithesis of what he believes), and his people don’t really get along with Trump’s people…at some point they will go to war, Trump in order to deflect responsibility and Pence in order to take over. If we’re lucky, that will damage them both so profoundly that impeaching them both becomes required, though I suspect at best we’ll get an impeached Trump and a damaged Pence who either runs and loses in 2020 or doesn’t run at all.
I’ll bet the criminal in chief is sending him out, thinking it will help his cause.
After all of this, how long will it take for us to believe one word out of a Rethug’s mouth, ever?
As with the heavily redacted Mueller report we need to see the entire transcript of that call the dotard had with Zelensky. Dotard’s henchmen did not secret it away because it did not incriminate him in extortion as Pence makes believe. Release the document mr. Qtip and let the congress and the public see for themselves why it had to be so quickly hidden away. Let us decide if it was as innocent a conversation as you imply.
He is literally praying he can avoid being implicated so he can be sworn in as president before the election. It will kill all of the Trumpers if Pelosi ends up being the caretaker president sometime between now and January 2021.
Realistically, there are real risks to that scenario, but it is fun to speculate.
