I encourage all Trump supporters to vote absentee but not by mail. Yes, you can send your vote for Trump telepathically. Just sit at home in front of your teevee and think your vote. Q’s operatives will handle it from there. (Edit: be sure to remove your tinfoil hat first.)
Whatever you do, don’t actually touch that evil mail-in ballot. Shred it upon receipt.

Very simple. Republicans vote by absentee ballot. Democrats vote by mail. That’s the relevant difference.
However, there is a real, but not well expressed, difference. When Trump/Pence talk of “absentee ballots” they mean the process under which (1) the voter requests an application for an absentee ballot, (2) the election official mails the application to the voter, (3) the voter mails the application to the election official, (4) the election official mails the absentee ballot to the voter, and (5) the voter mails back the absentee ballot to the election official. This process takes several weeks, so it effectively disenfranchises the person who decides late in the campaign to vote or who puts it off.
“Vote by mail” involves a ballot sent directly to the voter, skipping the first three steps of the absentee ballot process. This makes it easier for all people to vote, not just the “right” people.

Hate to say it, but our mail service is not very reliable and I just have insufficient faith in voting by mail. Instead of that, I plan on voting absentee in person during the weeks-long availability of that option in my local area.

It’s not just that Pence is a relentless and shameless liar. (Though he certainly is.) It’s not just that Pence is lickspittle di tutti lickspittle. (And boy, is he ever!) It is that Pence is truly and profoundly stupid. (This was widely known before he became Dear Leader’s buttboy.) Probably not Unser Drumpfenfuhrer stupid (that’s hard) but so dumb that you have to wonder how in the world he failed upwards to Congress and the Indiana State House. I guess there’s not a lot of competition for intelligence in today’s GOP.

I vote by mail here in California. Actually, more accurately, I receive my ballot by mail and then take it myself to the ballot drop box outside of city hall so that I can be assured it will be received. And I give zero f$@ks about whether Pence or Trump approve.

Unfortunately, I think Pence stands a better chance than he should. Between voter suppression of all sorts, a large portion of the population that is slavishly loyal to Trump, and others who think Trump is disgusting but all Democrats are socialists, we’ve got our work cut out to get Trump out and keep Pence far, far away from the Oval Office.

Ok. This all makes sense if you ‘hear’ it through Post Modern Conservative ears. Remember, they are messaging to a conservative base where many think “Obamacare” and the “ACA” are two different things. But it’s not all GOP voter stupidity they are relying on, It’s a dog whistle of sorts. Just like with “Obamacare” for GOP voters means ‘health care for urban black people’ and the “ACA” means healthcare for rural whites, what republicans are saying to trained republican voters is really ‘your mail in vote will count, liberals shouldn’t’.
This is all just conservative code for only white conservative votes are legitimate, the “absentee” ballots. Liberal/black/immigrant/ those people vote ‘mail in’ and they are cheating by doing so.
