Logic doesn’t seem to work as a counter to Trump. Disgust and anger don’t work as a counter to Trump. Nancy Pelosi throwing shade at the antics of Trump works. She knows it. She uses it effectively.

I doubt that given her day job she gave this as much thought as we are, but I certainly agree it’s not especially witty or verbally clever. But I think even that shows her innate psychological insight. With him, he could interpret taking the trouble to frame an insult in a clever way as a form of tribute. You’re a loser and a hater and this is what my power and prominence have reduced you to, making impotent little jokes, that idea. But this is offhand and prosaic and the subtext is she couldn’t be bothered to think up something clever, it wasn’t worth the effort. So not to sound like a mediocre director at a script meeting but it works on every level.

I’m not quite getting why folks think this is especially hard hitting or effective.
It’s effective by not giving this POS president any respect - but far from “hard hitting.” - unless it becomes unrelenting. But she sure could use some help b/c the media considers his dysfunctional behavior just part of his personality. I don’t think Democrats can afford to wait to go on the attack. This Reopen America is a complete failure already … and did I mention it will be killing more and more innocent fellow Americans. If that’s not a big enough sledgehammer, there’s always the coming Depression.

I think it’ll be different this time. Once Trump is gone and the GOP is desperately trying to prove they never knew the guy, and even if they did he was really a Democrat, Rupert may decide it’s in the GOP’s best interest to keep Trump cheerleading to a minimum. I’m hoping too that maybe FOX will see a new Democratic presidency as an opportunity to change course. Who am I kidding? They’ll just double down on hating Biden and, of course, his VP who’ll be a woman.
