House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent her Democratic colleagues a somber letter on Tuesday night ahead of the House’s historic vote on impeaching President Donald Trump.
Smart move, to let it be known that they take their oath seriously. There won’t be many receptive ears from the RWNJ’s, but wise message nonetheless. Oh, and it is a great contrast to the histrionics of the Repubs who avoid opining about Trump’s actions other than dismissing it as “no quid pro quo,” only rant and rave about “process.”
After two years of doing NO oversight since 2016 during which the GOP-led House did NOTHING, Toxic Tyrant Trump could not bear up under mild congressional oversight subsequent to 2018. When a maladministration is lawless on a daily basis, it’s like fishing in a barrel with a hand grenade. The House of Representatives has limited their investigation to only the Tyrant’s actions pursuant to Ukraine and his blatant obstruction of congressional oversight. They did not include anything from Mueller’s report.
I suspect that in the event the Tyrant magically survives the 2020 election, the GOP will be in the minority in both the House and Senate. Perhaps that is the time to kitchen-sink the Tyrant with everything in the Mueller report, as well as a released logjam of subpoenas from the SCOTUS along with the Tyrant’s tax returns. Of course, I’d love to see this before November 2020, but we really do need to think and plan the long game.
I’m hoping Moscow Mitch wakes up the morning after the November 2020 election face down in an outhouse latrine.
Maybe I’m skating out on thin ice, but I believe Trump’s psychological makeup made this day inevitable. His malignant narcissism demands he be the center of attention at all times and in all circumstances. Even becoming President with all its attendant pomp and circumstances wasn’t enough after awhile. So what better way to capture nationwide and even the world’s attention than self-impeaching? Also does wonders for that martyr complex. It also means he’ll burn this country down in a second upon leaving office, whether it’s through an election loss or otherwise.
So since we had such a narrow scope in these articles, if the Senate fails to convict do we have enough time left to make Trump the first president ever to be impeached twice?
I suspect a second impeachment will occur if he’s reelected. He’d have to do something really, REALLY stupid to outrage enough people to impeach him a second time before November 2020.
I don’t put performing something really, REALLY stupid beyond him.
