Do you ever wonder (as I do) if the reason trump ran for president is because Obama OWNED him during the Correspondent’s Dinner? If so, he has truly exacted his revenge. If he gets away with this our country stands for nothing. He must be held to account. And his enablers also. It is an outrage.

I do agree that it’s been gnawing at him ever since, but my theory is that he never expected to win, the goal was to lay the groundwork for his own “Fox-like” network. I suspect he (or perhaps now it’s just his handlers) thinks he can still pull this off, either with ONANISM (or whatever it’s called) but I also suspect his future is more about negotiating pardons and fighting off lawsuits and state charges. He’s fucked up on a Biblical scale and he smells it, but still doesn’t see it clearly. Maybe after he nationalizes Twitter and Facebook he’ll be back where he wanted to be…

Not nothing. The Senate is busy appointing unqualified Federalist Society spawn to the federal bench - nearly 200 lifetime appointments of white, mostly male Koch whores. The Senate is doing that.

Anyways, they have lots of reasons why the GOP is promoting the most gawd-awful proposals and ignoring popular ones. They posit that Rs figure they can still win in a polarized America and may even get more Rube support by promoting a harsh agenda.
But I think they really miss the more obvious point. The Rs expect they will lose and are trying for these horribly anti-people measures because they won’t be getting any chances to pass anything for a long time.

I like how Nancy keeps sinking harpoons into the great white whale, but if I could give her just one suggestion it would be to use needles or thin bamboo shoots and stick them under his nails and then pry upward. The harpoons aren’t getting through all that blubber.

I think 5,000, actually more like 50,000+, rethugs gathering in an enclosed space is a wonderful idea.
The failure of this idea is they will return to their natural habitat and infect innocents.

Innocents aren’t going to be attending. A concentration of 5,000 or so active organizers and leaders of Trumpsky’s GOP exposed to the inevitable unmasked and undistanced nutcase attendee percentage would guarantee a goodly fraction of those 5K would be introduced to COVI-19. And those newly infected individuals would go back and spread the virus to people who believe as they do. What we have here is an epidemiology based dagger in the heart of the dragon, so to speak. It’s an experiment that could never be proposed on ethical grounds. If the GOP feels compelled to demonstrate Donnie’s pandemic is over, who am I to object?
And yes some innocent people will be exposed, but that is already going to happen as a direct consequence of the convention.

I bet he just moves the whole thing to one of his resorts. Charlotte isn’t gonna play ball with this - they don’t need it; they don’t want it. Not under the current circumstances which, by then, may be significantly worse than they are now.
At the same time, I don’t know that Nancy needs to have a dog in this hunt. None of the folks involved in the discussion really care what she thinks about this.
What she should be focusing on is how he is so out of touch with America, by highlighting the virus response, the IG firings and all the other stuff that really matters. The convention is already set up to be a coronation, so why bother discussing it?

have any of you all ever been to Florida in August? its the hurricane season , and heat is in the high 90s with humidity to match…that would not be good for all those old white people…add to that, bed bug Doral is a dump…and the AC/ power goes out, frequently…woo hoo!
