House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that the House would be voting Friday on a package of proposals to address the coronavirus outbreak — a package that she had spent the last day and a half negotiating with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.
whether the measure stands a chance in the Senate will likely depend on if she can get the buy-in of both House GOP lawmakers and Trump.
If she gets stymied, I hope she demands that the public is allowed to see the GOP’s alternative solutions. Enough with juggling peoples’ lives, swords, and flaming torches at the same time and not expecting some bad consequence.
Okay fine. Let her have the House vote on it as soon as she can gather them up. In one minute the President* is going to call it a national emergency (everybody is saying), then pass it in a hurry. Let Moscow Mitch bury it if he wants - his problem. If MM lets them vote we can watch Collins cut off her circulation clutching her pearls because the president* won’t say anything about it. He knows he can’t veto it so it will drive him to shit-tweet his pants.
Nancy should challenge Trump to an public debate if he turns down the package.
Not only Nancy but everyone Trump runs down should challenge him, and only him, to a public debate.
This will prove he is too stupid to stand alone. That he cannot debate anyone without rules that favor him.
Agreed. No holds barred response (loud, loud, and constant) against any attempts by the GOP to make this a “us versus them” political response versus rapid, practical measures for the safety of our citizens.
I just saw a facebook comment that the bill contains pork to help abortion providers make millions off it. I am too dumbfounded to comment any further.
You’d think, just for once, they would stop playing games and actually work together to solve a crisis for people they represent. Maybe it will take having a few of their friends on ventilators, or sick constituents knocking on their doors, coughing on them.
I keep saying that those service workers who make their lunch and clean their offices don’t make much and might not feel able to stay home if sick. Just think what they might cough on. You’d think self-interest might kick in if they have no empathy for those who really need this aid.
Pass it and let it languish on #ditchMoscowMitch’s desk. Post a stop watch on every news outlet that shows the time between House passage and now, signifying the time it’s taking the Senate to even consider the bill much less vote on it.
Let the American people see where the interest in helping the Senate’s constituents lies.
You’re assuming that they think further than what is right in front of their noses. It takes a little more effort or critical thinking to get beyond that and start thinking of the secondary ripples of action or inaction.
YOU GO GIRL!!! Pass a fucking bill, and anyone who votes against it we can attack this fall, seek to unseat. Make it about paid sick leave, free testing, and expanding access to health care. Push it non-stop, and if Trump does not go along, pass it anyway.
