Pelosi Orders Broad Mask Mandate In House After Gohmert Tests Positive | Talking Points Memo

Well, the trouble is hurricanes are kind of a blunt instrument. There’s a popular fishing guide and author named Flip Pallot who had a pretty horrifying experience with Andrew, the way he tells it, and didn’t go back where he used to live for 10 years afterward. Not wishing that on the neighbors, who are lovely for all we know. He’s actually not that popular there, surprisingly enough. If you could get a tornado to do a surgical strike on the place that would be fine.

Yeah, I know you’re right, and I remember reading that the Place is also built like a bunker, so it’s just daydreaming on my side.

Still.

Maybe it could just, well, wash out some of the underlying foundation rock so that half of the grounds slide away into the water. But just there, and, of course, that other piece of property just down the road that recently got bought by Crime Family Trump a bit back (a house, was his sister’s and right next door…).

I think retribution for Trump will come in the form of electoral humiliation, legal trouble that dogs his family for the rest of their lives, and growing dementia. Just being realistic here.

Maybe not enough coffee yet, but when I read this I deleted the "a"s in the hurricane’s name.

Oh, this wouldn’t be humiliation, this would just be pure Schadenfreude on my part. Think of the revenue bite if half of it slid underwater.

Not going to fly. Congress makes its own rules and I am pretty sure the Speaker of the House will have power to enforce this one.

We don’t need a “broad mask mandate.” The problem has never been the broads. It’s been the crazy old white guys.
[Sorry. Will see myself out.]

Herman Cain has died of COVID, diagnosed several days after attending Trump’s Tulsa rally, maskless, next to others of the same ilk.

I’d wrestle with her for the last cookie in the jar. Just sayin’…

Bet you’d lose… :joy:

““I’m not concerned,” Roy told CNN.”

Isn’t that what Herman Cain said?

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD told CNN Wednesday that while the House isn’t mandating testing for lawmakers yet, “we’re discussing that.”

Wtf? I figured they had been doing that for months? This isn’t hard, require masks anytime you are inside a federal building, House and Senate should all be tested monthly with temperature checks at the door daily.

I don’t much care what happens to Gohmert, Jordan or most anti-science and anti-American politicians like them, but if the White House is getting tested regularly, I’d like my f—ing representatives’ health in Congress to be ensured.

Arguably too late, but, hey, I’ll take it. I make allowances for the Speaker having to drag troglodytes even in our caucus over the line.

Having said that, the Speaker still hasn’t done what she would if she were truly serious, put forward a resolution to change House rules to require an immediate expulsion vote for any Member who refuses to follow the COVID precautions the resolution will specify.

Maybe every R and enough Ds would vote against this resolution that it wouldn’t pass, but isn’t it worthwhile to get people on the record on this question? More people, more prominent people, and eventually some Members will die or experience a serious illness from COVID, and eventually the majority of the House will get behind this measure. This will happen sooner the more pressure is put on the COVIDiot side of the question.

To be clear, actual expulsion takes 2/3, and no such resolution changing the rules could or should automatically expel a Member. What the rule change would do would be to force an immediate vote on expulsion. The Member who violated the rules would get a chance to explain his or herself, and perhaps escape expulsion that way.

It goes without saying that, at least at first, until the mounting death toll has brought the 1/3 of the R caucus over to the Survival Caucus that you need to get to the 2/3 of the total needed to expel, there are going to be plenty of these forced expulsion votes that will fail to expel. Fine, make the COVIDiots stand up and declare that their allegiance to party outweighs their allegiance to protecting themselves, their colleagues, and everyone else they come in contact with.

Well, for all his performative nonchalance, in private he’s terrified and has everyone around him tested. Still, he’s had some near misses, so we’ll just have to see.
