House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants lawmakers be heavily fined if they refuse to follow new security measures that include passing through metal detectors before gaining entry to the House chamber in the aftermath of last week’s deadly attack on the US Capitol.
That Madison guy not from Wisconsin bragged he was packing last Wed. Didn’t think they were allowed to be armed among their fellow congresspeople. Anyone going to follow up to see if this is true?
Well, that should get their attention. I assume it is $10k per offense and that adds up pretty fast. I doubt that many of the Republicans in the House are wealthy enough to live in DC without a salary.

I am sure that this has been going on for a while and for Pelosi to make an issue of it now tells me that she (and many other Democrats) saw things last Wednesday that scared them coming from some of their fellow Republican Reps. Surprised it has taken this long, but I think her request is absolutely correct.
Good. It is long past time for the boundaries to be defined. We have watched these bad actors, under the malign influence of Trump, dare anyone to stop them from violating norms, rules, laws, as they endanger others, while channeling their inner middle schooler. Everything to these folks is “you’re not the boss of me.” It’s time for adult behavior, adult responsibility and adult consequences. Keep’em coming.

It would be a suicide pact NOT to enact these rules against carrying weapons into Congress. I wouldn’t trust the QAnon idiots and the Trump cultists in the House as far as I could throw Pompeo or Trump. Trust Gym Jordan, the sexual assault enabler, and Matt Goetz, the DUI twerp? No way. Yesterday I read a story about this and saw a picture showing that security placed two tables on both sides of the machine. Presumably Repubs won’t climb over the tables by mistake.
