Patrick Acknowledges Democratic Field, Goes Ahead And Runs Anyway

We all know black candidates are fungible.

Then my new question is, why didnā€™t he jump in, earlier?

What exactly does he have to offer, that the rest of the moderates donā€™t have?

So, so, so much more than ā€œjust fineā€.

Iā€™m nowhere close to a billionaire and Iā€™m scared to death of them.
I think they want to take a bulldozer to a renovation job.

Iā€™m a Harris and Biden supporter, but Iā€™ll give Cory Booker lots of credit in not being used by a bunch of scaredy-cat billionaires, because a current co front-runner is channeling her inner Becky Lynch.

Just contributing to the notion that our selection process is a debacle.

ā€œDemocrats in disarrayā€ - the conventional wisdom mongers are licking their chops.

The big question for people who are concerned about Biden as the candidate, is how to break his lead with African American voters. Harris self destructed early. Booker never got any traction. Warren, Sanders and Buttigieg are polling horribly with Black voters.

Patrick is being persuaded to jump in now, because donors are worried about Biden, and want someone who can peel away his Black support. I am not convinced Patrick can do that at this late date, but he has a better chance that Bloomberg.

So as for why now vs. from the beginningā€¦losing now doesnā€™t carry as much baggage as losing after a year on the campaign trail. And secondly (probably more importantly) he has money being thrown at him, as opposed to having to beg for it if he had gotten in back in March or April.

Hi,
Iā€™m curious, where do Harris and Biden intersect for you? I have her more in the Bernie/ Warren camp. Iā€™m wondering if Iā€™m missing something.

Bain capital work makes this DOA, and nice timing as well.

I donā€™t have a clue about what Harris does next.

Initially, I thought that she was the last person that either Trump or Pence wanted to debate, but thatā€™s not going to happen.

I think the partyā€™s leftward drift is also hurting her, because sheā€™s not going to get their support, until Warren leaves the race (which ait happening).

Sooooo, sheā€™s unfortunately stuck.

This might be one of the dumbest political moves Iā€™ve seen a Democrat make in the past year (or more). He has zero positives to run for President, unless he just wants to build a campaign war chest for a future run, might as well grab that corporate money now and let it earn some interest for a few years.

I welcome DP to the field. I certainly wouldnā€™t vote for him, but by all means split the centrist vote more.

You might not have noticed, but Trump won long time Democratic states in the upper midwest. Want to know why? Democrats like Biden and Mayor Pete have embraced the Democratic establishment which doesnā€™t want change. People are hurting out in the country and they donā€™t think Democrats give a shit about real people. If we nominate some establishment person we will be proving them right.

I am disappointed in voters for the lack of Harris support.

You make a ton of assumption about why Hillary lost those states. All Iā€™ll say is that in what polls have come out of Penn, Wisconsin, Michigan, as well as national, Biden polls better versus Trump than Warren or Sanders.
So, while those folks might not want a corrupt, aloof, insider, they donā€™t want what they perceive to be an open borders socialist either.

These states shouldnā€™t have been close.
