Sheriff Chad Bianco of Riverside County, California, a Republican who is running for governor, has seized more than 650,000 ballots in a purported investigation of election fraud in the 2025 special election for Proposition 50, Democrats’ mid-decade redistricting vehicle.
Since when is a sheriff allowed to seize ballots? Is he so special that he can bypass the normal channels of investigating elections? I bet the discrepancy is from people deciding to skip the decision to vote on the redistricting.
Hell, they were supposed to deliver a package to me on Friday. Kept telling me it would be here by 9p. Don’t know how they expected to do that when the package was in Greensboro, NC, and I live in central MN.

The attack on mail-in voting is one of the very alarming moves Trump and his alarmingly large band of sycophants – unfortunately including as many as six members of the SC – are making to stop voting by as many people as possible. Hideous. And, as this story shows, completely hypocritical on his part – (not that most everything he does and says is not hypocritical…)
Nothing that could curtail Donnie’s dreams of being a petroleum magnate, or the profits of his allies in that industry, can actually be acknowledged to exist.

Innocent question. Is Iran not entitled to do this in shipping lanes it controls/manages? Compensation for things like regulating traffic and safe passage (as in making sure vessels don’t collide)? Does Panama charge for passage through the Panama Canal?
