If I establish a religious denomination whose holy book declares that a fetus doesn’t have a soul prior to viability, wouldn’t this Supreme Court, to be consistent, have to allow me, and all my employees (see Hobby Lobby) to exercise our religious freedom by permitting us to have abortions? Seems this is at least a strategy to try, now that the right to privacy clearly won’t work with them anymore.

Abortion was not a major political issue until Nixon used it to woo Catholic voters in his 1972 campaign, before Roe was decided. The GOP then expanded the strategy to rebrand itself as pro-family to mobilize socially conservative voters.
The GOP has been laying the groundwork and floating trial balloons to find the next great culture war issue to rally around. The confirmation hearings featured GOP senators questioning Griswold, Loving, and Obergefell. DeSantis has his cherished “Don’t Say Gay” law. There is no shortage of minority groups to demonize or wrongly decided social issues for the Supreme Court to overturn. The only question is which one will top the focus group polling.

They’ll run for years on their new pet topic of dirty liberals in the cities teaching their kids about gays and Black history in school, making their precious White snowflake kids feel uncomfortable.
This is the new one, but they still have the Golden Oldies of immigration control to stop the browns from coming into their neighborhoods, keeping the government’s hands off their guns, and low taxes and zero environmental regulations.

You are defining the very holdings of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Conner. She originated the standard that states cannot pose an “undue burden” on women getting abortions and then applied it to rich White women or actually herself. That is Republican women to include O’Conner wanted abortion legal for them.
The political question is does Oklahoma or other red states banning abortion really affect rich White women or can they merely buy a ticket to visit New York.

True, there are class and race aspects to this as well. These men have a whole hierarchy worked out in their minds of how power and freedom is supposed to be distributed, and anything they see as threatening it, they instinctively attack. It’s literally the same kind of core thinking that informs Trump & Putin’s actions, a ferociously reactionary attempt to maintain or restore some imagined perfect social and political order, that just happens to put them on top.
What these men can and will never realize is that destroying this gender, race and class hierarchy and flattening things into a meritocracy for some things and equality for others ultimately benefits men, whites and the rich. Of course they’re too stupid and cowardly to know it. Perhaps, deep down, they know how mediocre they are and this is the only way they don’t get left behind and forced to assume their merited stations in life, much lower on the totem pole.
