Remember that pizza joint in DC that was supposed to be housing Hillary’s server and a bunch of pre-teen girls in the basement? That the cited “basement” in that building did not exist made not one wit of difference to the conspiracy mongers. They just “moved the goal posts” to the building next door that did have a basement.

For a lot of Goobers there is no reality. That’s why I use the term “goober” as opposed to any other descriptor that would indicate that the person/group operated off at least a modicum of logic.

You have hit the nail precisely on the head. What is happening through this and all through the last four or five years (at least) is wackos, what you call “goobers” building conspiracy theory on top of conspiracy theory ad infinitum. It has to stop. At some point, we as a culture, as a country need to return to rationality. Otherwise, our survival as a free country will be doomed to extinction.

It used to be that goobers inhabited their own fringe space…making faces in the smoke of the collapsing Twin Towers on 9/11 for example. But trump gave them the chance at mainstream existence on our TV’s and “smart” phones. And now we have state legislatures authorizing audits run by these very folks looking to devalue our system of elections. LOOK … there is a malignancy loose in America. This isn’t hyperbole… It’s real. We can watch it on OANN live as ballots are handled by utterly incompetent untrained people who haven’t the slightest idea what they’re doing. Or why what they’re doing is so very reprehensible and illegal and rips at the heart of who we are as America.
AND MY STATE’S LEGISLATURE AUTHORIZED THIS INSANE STUPIDITY and refuses to stop this insanity even in the face of being a laughing stock. But I see no humor here. I see wreckage of the foundation of who we ought to be as America. The goobers are attacking America and have a very sharp knife at her jugular. And our lawmakers approve of it.

I know you guys know this, but it would be one thing if people were building conspiracy theories on top of more conspiracy theories because they truly were benighted, or our society was from an information-poor age, still ruled by shamans and mystics etc.
But these people are doing it as a strategy. I especially mean the RedRubeRabble, not the officials. The officials are a slightly different story. The deplorable rabble, it is their way of ‘winning’. It isn’t a condition we inherited or had foisted on us like a meteor or climate change. This isn’t a virus or herd insanity, they are doing this intentionally so they don’t “lose”. It is all they have left, it is the only card left for them to play, and they are doing it willingly, eagerly, and repetitively…without understanding or caring what it is spawning.
I will give them this much credit, I don’t believe they comprehend how dangerous it is. I actually think they might care a bit if they did. They don’t realize, how trivial it might appear to them but as you guys point out…it just might be the thing that sends us spinning in infinity. To them it is like “I know you are but what am I?” stoopid 6yr old shit…they don’t care how immature they look as long as it annoys the hell out of, and owns, The Libs.

Your descriptor, “RedRubeRabble” is an excellent invention, perfectly describing what Hilary unfortunately called the “deplorables.” It is interesting, however that the term “Red” used to mean Communist, now it means Republican. Coincidence? After watching Trump and his Trumpettes kowtow to the likes of Putin and assorted other Russian oligarchs, Mohammed bin Salman, Kim Jung-un, etc. I am not so sure. Connect the rubes and empower the goobers like Gohmert, Kennedy, Jordon, Greene, etc.and letting them think this is the way ultimate power, a very powerful, and dangerous engine is set in motion, an engine that must be stopped in its tracks.

Some states have statutes that allow defendants to recover their attorney fees if they prevail on various kinds of claims, but the general rule is that everybody eats their own fees because fighting things out in the courts is just a thing we do in this country.
