“Forced birthers” is short and succinct. Works for me.
Uhhh…Sorry, but that’s not good news. The means the start of a looong, boring, HOT summer.
If I’m not mistaken his dad owned a bar.
I bitch about the cold weather all winter long to keep me in shape for bitching about the hot weather in the summer.
Just his heart.
Presuming he has one…
By the way has Fox chimed in about the new version of Clue that so obviously promotes critical race theory?
Opinion | The House GOP is high-risk, but low-energy - The Washington Post (archive.ph)
Or you can’t teach an old dog new tricks
For starters, the coalition on which it rests is old. Voters younger than 40 overwhelmingly back the Democrats; Republicans are strongest among Americans 65 and older. Back in Reagan’s day, young Americans were drawn to conservatism. Not anymore.
Its ideas are old, too. It’s astonishing that the main excitement of the coming Congress is likely to come from retread tactics drawn from those earlier GOP Congresses that did conservatives more harm than good.
It was the Gingrich Congress in 1995 that pioneered the government shutdown as a vehicle for forcing budget cuts. Instead, Republicans handed Clinton one of the central arguments in his successful reelection campaign a year later: that he protected the country from GOP cuts in “Medicare, Medicaid, education and the environment.”
The fact that President Biden and Democrats will have a very similar list to recite (plus saving Social Security and blocking a 23 percent sales tax) makes you wonder why conservatives can’t come up with some new material.
Again, you want to ask Republicans if they have bigger goals than slashing programs (when Democrats are in the White House) and holding the full faith and credit of the United States hostage — and if they aren’t tired of doing the same stuff over and over and having it blow up in their faces.
That won’t stop the Republican House from reprising such arguments. But voters, like music lovers, grow weary of hearing the same old songs and nothing else. The Young Guns of yesteryear aren’t young anymore. Neither are their ideas, their objectives or their methods. The thrill is gone.
Of course not. Fox is Clueless.
Did he give any thought to the fact that all the guys on that field are at high risk of developing CTE? In 2012 Hall of Fame linebacker Junior Seau, just 2 years into his retirement, committed suicide at 43 because he couldn’t live with his mood swings, headaches, depression, memory loss and dementia. He very kindly chose to shoot himself in the heart so his brain could be studied by researchers.
My local high school football team just won State for the 2nd year in a row, but I have a hard time being happy for them. Hopefully none of them will grow up to play pro ball.
Because Dems tend to be cerebral, while Republicans reactionary. And then when you add religion…well…
I’ll make an uneducated guess that Youngkin and his political team are confident that most GOP voters will not read past the headline talking point about how tough he is on China and that they can outshout any opposition that sufaces.
I’ve seen my mom do that so many times and it makes me want to vomit, and she thinks she’s well informed.
Hell, we watched last week as the Bills player was carted off the field, not knowing if he was alive or dead.
That event is probably doing more to call into question how the players decide to continue in the game.
We’re all aware of CTE. Unfortunately, no one is banning professional sports on the basis of these outcomes. And there’s no shortage of players willing to risk it to play the game.
Grandson played quarterback in TX high-school ball, was a high school All American. Played one game in college, then gave it up having suffered a number of concussions during his playing days. Though I played also (not at his level) and loved the game, I believe it has become so violently dangerous no youngster should ever be encouraged to play American football. There are other ways to be an athlete.
Reading Kate’s article a few minutes ago, i was wondering how much of this entire discussion over abortion rights has to do with genuine convictions about a fetus, and how much has to do with simply owning the libs.
I love listening to music that is more than 300 years old. Maybe I’m a closeted Republican.
One need only look at the disparity between advocacy for the born compared to advocacy for the unborn to answer the question as to the sincerity of the Republican position.
For Christmas, wife gave me Howard Pollack’s biography of Aaron Copland. A facinating read, Copland studied all over the world, and worked diligently to create an “American music.” He wasn’t “tired of 300 year old music;” nor was he I’m guessing a Republican. He just wanted to balance the, at that time, dominance of Europe’s contribution.
