Ohio’s Internal Battle Reveals New Fronts In The Abortion War

Dear Hubby went into yesterday’s Vikings-Giants game, knowing full-well the Vikings were going to lose, despite many reports to the contrary.

He was still livid. The only consolation is he still has the Wild hockey team that’s doing half-decently after a slow start and, as you note, we’re not too far away from baseball season.

Told me this morning, he’s going to spend his day being a disgruntled fan, calling for the parties responsible for that debacle (the D coordinator - heck, most of the Twin Cities is calling for his immediate firing).

Democratic women don’t like these two either, so that’s not a winning strategy.

I grew up in a tiny place in Butler Co, Ohio. Population was about 450 if everyone was home.
It was John Boehner country. His family had a hardware store among other things in near by Hamilton, Ohio. When he ran for Congress it was only occasionally that a democrat would even run against him. It was always “no contest”.

The people who are against available abortion don’t care about those questions. Their thought is, if you’re dumb enough to get pregnant, then you deal with the consequences. After all, their thought is, there is always adoption. These are not Christian thoughts by any means, by evangelicals who are demanding banned abortion.

It’s funny how the first member of a church to show up in a new Cadillac is the preacher.

It’s time to change the language; these people are not anti-abortion; they are pro-forced birth. The GOP has been manipulating and weaponizing language for years now; let’s give them some of their own medicine.

Also good to point this out, to show how much hypocrisy is in their methods.

Well I guess Gaetz hasn’t had much contact with Democratic women.

Is Gaetz trying to set himself up as a behind the scenes power broker?

The GOP will take it standard approach. First cut benefits to fit the funding then declare the programs to be bureaucratic failures that should be eliminated. Same as Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, . . . Remember, government is not the solution to the problem, government is the problem.

Except this time around there will be babies, all these babies with pictures that can be plastered all over the intertubes, and with captions declaring the OH GOP want to starve the babies.
Again this is to point out the hypocrisy of their messaging, and their actions. All handed neatly wrapped up with a big bow to be used against them.

Then why wasn’t this strategy implemented after Dobbs all the way through the midterms?

I don’t argue that it’s the right strategy. I argue that it wasn’t used when it would’ve been most useful.

Missed Opportunity: How Governor Youngkin’s Decision to Block a Ford EV Battery Plant Inflicts Long-Term Harm | Blue Virginia

One of Youngkin’s main arguments was his concern about the Chinese Communist Party’s influence. However, the company that would have operated the plant, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), is the world’s largest producer of electric vehicle batteries. It is not CCP-controlled. Furthermore, the technology used in building the battery cells would have been retained by the private sector, which is a mutually beneficial arrangement for both CATL and Ford.

Moreover, Gov. Youngkin’s decision also ignores that China is already a significant player in the global battery market. Banning a Chinese company from operating in Virginia doesn’t change that reality. The U.S. is already playing catch-up in the race to develop and manufacture batteries for electric vehicles. The decision to halt the Ford plant further impedes American competitiveness in this field.
In conclusion, Governor Youngkin’s decision to halt the Ford battery plant in Virginia caused long-term harm. It ignores the economic benefits, the job opportunities, and the role it could have played in the transition to a green economy
