Officials Who Spoke Out Against Trump Continue To Pay The Price

President Donald Trump and his loyal Republicans have turned against many of his own foreign policy apparatuses since the impeachment inquiry, leaving those officials who spoke out against him to pay the price in the workplace.

Being a patriot is more than flying the flag, it means defying the government and there is always a personal price to pay. If there is no risk to you, you are not really a patriot.

As if we needed more motivation to clear out this den of vipers…

Another reason to hope for a Trump loss next November so that these people can speak freely without fear of retaliation.

I’m not easily shocked, but ā€œindict the whoreā€ is blood-chilling.

I fear for the patriots who stand up to this maladministration… and the idea of Alex Jones calling anyone a whore is rich.

The lack of stage 4 brain tumors and sudden, massive strokes and heart attacks among Trump loyalists seems proof there is no God.

Someday these heroes will be recognized for their bravery, what form this recognition takes will be interesting.

Defiance in the face of a corrupt President?

Perseverance despite the threat of Death Threats?

Uncompromising Integrity Above and Beyond the Call of Duty?

I wish I was joking, but this is no joke. These people deserve protection as well as recognition for their selfless actions on behalf of the United States and for which it stands.

I don’t have a link at hand but yesterday on cnn.com a headline was about the recall of our Ambassador to Malawi because he wrote a screed taking the government there to task for their corruption and virulent anti-gay laws and general treatment if gays.
Another serving Ambassador fired for upholding American values. Malawi is the recipient of $500 million in aid annually.

It has been pointed out to me that I have the country wrong in the above post. It should read … Zambia, not Malawi.

Trump and his loyal compadres are such vengeful, PETTY little despots. Dems would do well to continue to point that out.

Patriotism has never been understood by Republicans. They’ve always pretended that disagreement with them meant you were not patriotic. Remember that William Pitt quotation, ā€˜Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.’ I’m not sure he had modern day Republicans in mind but they sure fit the bill.

They will need protection even after trump is long gone. Truth can be very expensive.

I have a feeling both LTC Vindman and Dr. Hill are well equipped to deal with deal with the type of lunacy that will be thrown at them. Dr. Hill especially struck me as someone who could stare down a tiger.

It does not logically follow though that doing things with personal risk attached therefore makes those things one does patriotic. I’m sure plenty of Trumpers think they are doing risky things (i.e., ā€œgoing up against the Deep Stateā€) and might therefore assume that equals patriotism.

We need a better definition of patriotism than that.

No one with integrity and courage will survive long-term working for Trump, no matter how good their intentions are. It’s just not possible. Our democracy is in grave danger, and these folks decided their nation was more important than their careers (at least in the short-term). Trump is a vindictive bully, so I’m sure they all saw this coming. They are honored by many of us today, and if our nation’s democracy survives Trump they will be honored by history.

And this differs from the way he and his minions have behaved since he was sworn in in front of ā€œthe largest audience ever to witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globeā€ how?
