Official Fired For Calling Out Trump’s Election Fraud Claims Stands By ‘Defending Democracy’ | Talking Points Memo

Former top cybersecurity official Christopher Krebs early Wednesday fired back at President Donald Trump after he was dismissed from his post for refusing to promote the President’s false claims of widespread election fraud by riffing on a famous line from Star Wars.

Honor over Trumpism.

Well played.

Fired for this:

There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.

Go figure

That should put the zoom in his resume.

In defending democracy, do or do not, there is no try. This is the way.

Besides being a true patriot and honorable man, his Star Wars game is tight.

He schooled donnie, while referencing Yoda and the Mandalorian in one, short tweet.

Seriously, who didn’t see this coming?

I don’t think he is going to have trouble finding a job. He is one of the heroes of the 2020 election.

Star Wars has never been my thing, but I do love Krebs’s riff. I think it definitely helps send the message home. Great popular culture reference. Well done.

I thought Micheal Chertoff was a vigorous supporter of Trump and a long-time close friend of Rudy(Scum). Or does he have a low life son who I’m confusing him with? Anybody know what’s going on here?

There are some things even an old-style republican won’t do.

Actually he was quoting Yoda, not Luke. In any case, I expect there may be a place in the Biden administration for him.

Atty. Gen. William Barr ignited yet another firestorm last week by dismissing all charges against former national security advisor Gen. Michael Flynn. Then Barr threw more gas on the fire when CBS’ Catherine Herridge asked him, “When history looks back on this decision, how do you think it will be written?”

“Well,” he replied, “history is written by the winners, so it largely depends on who’s writing the history.”

Why yes, yes it is…

Never saw a War of the Stars, obviously not my thing.

On the one hand, a highly regarded tech expert who has received bipartisan praise for his work in making sure the 2020 election was secure, and who has absolutely no incentive to lie…versus Trump, who is at over 25,000 lies since he took office (according to the Washington Post fact checker), and has every incentive to lie. In fact, seems incapable of not lying - even about minor matters that are easily debunked, never mind one concerning the election.

Oh yeah, it’s a tough call.

You might be thinking of Bernard Kerik?

“He’s done everything you would want a senior official at D.H.S. to do,” Chertoff told the Times. “As far as I’m concerned, this firing is a badge of honor for Chris Krebs.”

Another moment that shakes me up. I actually agree with and appreciate something Chertoff said. What world am I am living in now!

Back in 76’ had a friend that regaled us with tales of this amazing movie that was coming out. “Star Wars” he called it. He was a graphic illustrator and spent several months doing story boards for George Lucas. Even had a couple discarded ones. Asked me if I wanted one. Nah, I said, I’ll wait for the movie to come out.

Damn.

Thank you for being a responsible U.S. citizen, Mr. Krebs.

Question: Will the number of lies told by Donnie Two Scoops exceed the number of people who were fired by or quit this Mal-Administration? With about two months to go and Trump sulking in his bunker, it may be a close count.
