He might. Reagan was not “officially” diagnosed with Alzheimer’s until '94. It was politically useful for the GOP to hide his condition.
… President Reagan was not diagnosed with AD until August of 1994, but the results of our analyses suggest that changes in speaking patterns were becoming detectable years prior to clinical diagnosis. Analysis of his transcripts revealed significant differences in variables known to be associated with the onset of dementia…
The GOP is a cult of MAGA who see the convicted felon as the reincarnation of Jesus. Such a leader is not easily gotten rid of.
Demented isn’t near strong enough of a term. What’s needed are reporters who will actually ask the question " Are you nuts ? " or something similar. Actually call him out on his obvious insanity. Not going to happen though…
I guess we are seeing the development of the Trump Doctrine, which is essentially, “Any impulse, no matter how insane, is now the most significant need of the country”.
During his inaugural, he will rip of JFK, saying " Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure that my fantasies about the way the world works will be honored."
I’m shocked that he’s still here. Terrible diet, no exercise, almost no sleep, obese, and carrying around a huge load of anger: he should have blown a gasket years ago. He won’t last more than two more years.
“If they’re not back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out in the Middle East,” Trump said. “It will not be good for Hamas and it will not be good frankly for anyone."
That will include Vance and Johnson, their families and friends, ministers and billionaires, and everyone they know, you and I, and everyone we know.
Um…”However, that first Trump administration started with a divided Congress, more reason to have faith in institutional checks and balances, and some more traditional political figures on Trump’s team.” ??? So a divided congress helped pass the 2017 tax debacle and nearly repealed the ACA? I get that there were way more institutional controls the first time around but this Congress (119th) is more closely divided than the 115th.
Trump’s second term is beginning from an absolutely extreme and intense place.
Step 1 - The House passed the Laken Riley bill that allows deportation of immigrants charged with nonviolent crimes, allows state attorneys general to sue the federal government if they can show their states are being harmed over failure to implement national immigration policies, and allows states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to citizens allegedly due to illegal immigration.
Have the numbskulls like Ezra Klein at the NYT published their pearl-clutching think pieces on Trump’s apparent cognitive decline, and calling for him to step aside for the good of country and party?
Re: January 6: “We have to find out about Hezbollah. We have to find out about who exactly was in that whole thing because people that did some bad things were not prosecuted,” Trump said. “Me, for instance.”
He also suggested he might use “economic force” to make Canada the 51st State. “They should be a state,” Trump said of one of America’s closest neighbors and allies. “Whether the people of Canada want to be or not, because it’s not their decision to make … or to even have a say in.”
While we’re attacking and taking over Greenland, Panama, Canada, and the Gulf of Mexico, I hope Trump adds Bermuda to the list. Bermuda shorts are far more popular in MAGA America than they have ever been in Bermuda. They should be called “America Shorts”!
