Off-Duty Secret Service Agent Fatally Shoots Dog | Talking Points Memo

You used the correct word pussy is saying it mildly. And of course it will be justified as he feared for his life. Blue once again shows they should never own even a pea shooter.

Well I’ll put this here instead of a stand alone comment.
Does anyone else remember all the stories about people wandering into, or stopped just before they could wander into the WH during Obama’s 2 terms? And then there was some sort of scandal where a SS was threatening a woman. The story of the armed guy who got onto the elevator with Obama in Atlanta (?). Why isn’t there the same screw ups under DJT?

“I was a bit confused, because there were tons of policemen on our block but no one was getting arrested or questioned,” Gaughran-Bedell told the Times. “Instead, they all seemed to be looking to de-escalate the situation and pacify the owner.”
…
Indeed. They’d sure as hell hafta “pacify” me were it my dog.

donald won’t allow himself to interact with us ordinary folk

Steven Miller. No dog but clearly a mongrel.

There must be more back story here because as far as I can tell the dog was killed for barking at the SS agent, He says he was charged which I doubt. How many other folk were passing by that the dog did not react to? This was NYC…there had to have been a lot of people around.
edit
That SS agent had to have done something to make the dog bark at him in the first place. A face, a threatening gesture … something. My coonhound is a good judge of character and if she has suspicions she will stand by me, leash or no leash.
I think there’s more we are not being told here.

I was wondering if Donald has them quote a price to each “ordinary” person for the length, quality, and type of interaction?

I’d like to see the surveillance video or hear the owner’s story. Something does not compute. Unless he had his gun out already looking for something to shoot, he would not have had time to react unless the dog was just barking and not actually charging him.

In any event, it’s hard to see how a barking dog “charging” is a life-threatening act to a grown-ass man. I’ve been bitten by dogs several times and I’m still alive. And there are not enough bullets for me to kill all the dogs who have barked aggressively and momentarily startled me. This secret service agent is a coward and a disgrace. He should be fired for bringing dishonor to the agency.

Preemptive assassination. Imminent threat to POTUS.

In the parlance of our new times and moving justifications.

The story clearly says “small to medium BROWN dog.” One thing we know is that Miller is as non-brown as it gets.

As I said up thread I think this agent is a coward as well. And I think, unless I read differently later on, that he provoked this by a gesture, a face. Maybe he went after the leash that the owner supposedly did not have hold of…
I am sure, the more I consider this, that there is information we are not being given that explains it. Until I read differently that agent is a coward and should lose his gun and pay restitution at minimum to the owner of the pooch.

ONE - here is a Belgian Shepherd

but a witness described the dog as a small or medium-sized brown dog

TWO- What kind of idiot fires off a gun in an urban setting - unless it is an absolute total emergency - concrete - asphalt - buildings - make the odds of a catastrophic ricochet wayyyy too high !

It’s our law enforcement that belongs on fucking leashes, not our furry family members.

Misleading headline, given this: "A Secret Service spokesperson told TPM in a statement that the canine was wearing a leash but unsecured from its owner who was not present.’” None of us knows yet what might really have happened here. Let’s wait before throwing accusations around.

My father is a veterinarian (now retired), but when I was young he would do the necropsies on dogs shot by the police. He also did the life saving surgeries on the ones shot, but not killed. He figured most of the dogs were perfectly harmless and gung-ho cops doing drug busts were eager to shoot anything that moved.

The person who shot the dog does not have the temperament to have a job that allows him to shoot at people.

We definitely do not know what happened. But the claim that the owner “was not present” does not square with the description of the dog owner yelling at the shooter. Was he doing that in some kind of disembodied state? Or was he there all along after all?

A more plausible account would be that the dog pulled the leash out of her owner’s hand and came over toward the Secret Service agent, who panicked and killed her.

Some people say that the dog was Iranian so the shooting was righteous.

New breed…

This agent needs to be summarily fired for the inability to show proper judgment.
