Obama Eulogizes Legacy Of John Lewis In Most Pointed Call-To-Action Yet

Memento moron.

The Obamas have a deal with Netflix that’s probably closer to their ambitions than something monastic.

I’m way better looking.

They actually won an Oscar for the film they produced with Netflix, “American Factory.”

The timing of Trump’s unconstitutional suggestion was juxtaposed by the publication of a post-mortem essay that Lewis had sent to The New York Times to be published on the day of his funeral.

Not to be outdone, Trump just sent a crayoned screed to the NYT to be published on the day of his electoral death, stating no one in the history of the world has ever been treated so unfairly.

If you combined being crucified, water boarded, tarred and feathered, flayed, stoned, and burned alive, you still wouldn’t approach how badly the poor guy has been treated.

Sort of OT, but a key part of Lewis’ legacy:

A lot of the focus of BLM is on police brutality and the criminal justice system, but it seems like voting rights is another aspect that’s should be part of the equation. In the wake of various other suppression tactics falling by the wayside, red states (primarily) turned to other strategies (e.g. gerrymandering, voter ID) and got the nod from CJ John “Balls and Strikes” Roberts. These tactics are tacit (and not-so-tacit) efforts to reduce the agency of people of color to have their own representation in government.

I know things are already being pulled in so many directions, but it seems like this should be as big a focus of BLM as the others. People who are giving lip-service to the movement should be called upon to really show their commitment by pushing for universal voter registration and enfranchisement efforts, in addition to police reforms and defunding.

Rasputin would like a word with Mr. Trump.

You can forget how many good people there are, how hard they work to make everyone’s life a little better. It’s nice to be reminded of it. It gives you—what’s the word—hope.

I read somewhere that it was Old Testament Obama. I’ve got to just take the time and watch it.

Yeah, me too. I was stressed and knew I’d be blubbering if I watched it live. Obama is always a great speaker. Fallows said it wasn’t quite Charleston level but very few things ever will be. He said given the context it was powerful, though.

It was wholly different from Charleston in both tone and content.

Not to mention marginally saner.

Absolutely. He cannot be contained in an institution like the SCOTUS, where he will be silenced. His voice and knowledge and opinion needs to be heard and shared. He is now our national elder statesman, and will have many years to contribute.

Obama looked and talked so vital, so young. I am sorry to state this, but I am honest. And I am not alone: Biden looks old. But we know enought to vote for him, and hope he selects an Obama-like VP–young and vibrant. A future leader we can all uphold.

Trump did a news conference 45 minutes ago and started by talking about his dear friend Herman Cain. The contrast between these good people and him could not be overstated.

Because he is old.
But he’s fit, trim, energetic, and mentally sharp.

Four things that will never be said of Trump.

Repeated from another thread…
“Here’s what I know: You’d have to wake up early in the morning and eat an entire box of Wheaties to even come close to the masterful form Barack Obama displayed today.”
