Former President Barack Obama on Saturday applauded Major League Baseball for “taking a stand on behalf of voting rights,” after it pulled its All-Star Game from Atlanta in opposition to Georgia’s new restrictive voting law.

Republicans have successfully captured the judiciary (SCOTUS and federal courts), at least as of now, and now intend to capture the other 2 branches through anti-democratic means to perpetually hold power. It’s really that simple. This is probably our last best chance to disabuse them of that hideous notion.

Oh look. It’s a former President whose opinions I actually care to hear.

Any public figure worth something would recognize the importance of Henry Aaron at this particular time.

These GOP politicians have decided that only a portion of humanity count.

And, coming on the heels of their hellbent task of denying votes, the word “count” has a special meaning

Amazing how relevant and well spoken this man is.

Man, the last 4 years were tough.

What? No “Oh by the way, Happy Easter”?

That’s not very twice-impeached one-term ex-pResidential at all.

I saw a tweet that read. I’m paraphrasing.

“Now the Braves have a spot on their jersey for Hank”

In reference to what is now there, the 2021 Allstar badge.

Both Biden and Obama are anti-Trump in 1001 ways…

ONE of these is the ability to ignore disparaging words from the other side. That will hold Joe Biden in Good Stead in the days, weeks and months to come.

Mainly because the GOP is reduced to Talking Points, Hate, Lies and Insults.

The worst part of everything the GOP does? How fucking smirky they are about it. Like the 14 year olds they are emotionally.

Former President Donald Trump has meanwhile urged his supporters to “boycott baseball” and “woke companies” who have come out in opposition to the new law.

When the smallness of the boycott becomes the strength of the boycotted.

I think we should do them a favor and give them a list of all the “woke” companies they need to boycott.

Coca-Cola, Apple, Dell, American Airlines, Dow, JP Morgan, Facebook, Viacom, Cisco, Microsoft, Citigroup, and Merck, for starters.

Come to think of it, if they truly boycott all of the relevant companies, it’ll make their next insurrection that much harder to pull off.

It’s really overselling how much control the Republicans have over the judiciary…therea re only about 25% Trump appointees, and enough open slots right now that Democratic appointees will be the majority when Biden fills them. Plus, there’s a backlog of judges who refused to step down while Trump was in office. The Democrats need to get all of these nominations pushed through pronto, of course, but it’s not quite as dire in the courts…and not all the Trump judges are Neomi Rao clones. The SC is in worse shape obviously, but even there the Republican justices haven’t done their worst (yet), and with three older justices with health issues there’s a good chance that there will be a retirement of death within a few years.

It’s still not good, especially since some judges are willing to ignore the law to make things the way they (and their masters) want, but the judiciary is still holding the line on democracy for the most part. Republicans are doing everything they can to change that, but that’s now their policy position on everything.

Come to think of it, if they truly boycott all of the relevant companies, it’ll make their next insurrection that much harder to pull off.

As the center of gravity of their grievance becomes farther and farther removed from reality, it makes the grievance look that much pettier and the reaction that much more desperate.

And Pinterest! Of all the social media sites that have banned Trump, the fact that he got banned from Pinterest never stops cracking me up. How will we ever know his favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe?

The interesting thing about the ways they each deal with Trump is that they seem to have two different yet equally effective approaches. Obama’s is to mostly just ignore the hell out of him and talk around him as much as he can especially now that Trump is pretty much irrelevant. Joe’s is to point and laugh at the absurdity of all things Trump and his administration while also denying him the satisfaction of ever responding to his insults. Meanwhile, the Barack and Joe buddy cop show continues to remind us how normal presidents and ex-presidents behave.

Are we sure it wasn’t, “recalled?”
