People are already voting FFS.
I read that it hasn’t stopped. Still millions pouring in.
I don’t know how McConnell can fill the seat without some expectation that they can keep the Senate majority or win the WH again. Filling this seat without one of those two things would almost guarantee the end of the filibuster which he has to see as the biggest threat to ending the conservative movement.
“A basic principle of the law - and of everyday fairness”. Of course McConnell doesn’t care. The point is framing the issue in a way that best appeals to the relatively small group of squishy undecided voters who hold the fate of our democracy in their fickle, low-information hands.
You have people donating $87 in honor of RBG. A buck for each year on this earth.
Maybe the Supreme Court ought to be enlarged to 11 or 13 since it was pretty much set at 9 after the attempt to court pack in the 30’s because our population has grown and some of the issues the court is dealing with are a bit more complex. A larger court composed of not only career judges but legislators would have more of a diversity of views from life experience.
I just gave $50 to Jaime Harrison’s campaign in SC. He’s polling even with Graham at 48%, not many undecideds there. Liddle Lindsay is the tip of the spear here, so let’s make him clutch his pearls tightly and feel those palpitations while he considers whether blindly following McTurtle down this road is worth losing his job. I suggest everyone who can manage it do the same.
Is it too little to ask that at least 4 GOP Senators join all Dem Senators and let the next President nominate the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court?
Huh?
The FDR court packing incident was more political in nature. He threatened it, received political pushback, while the court softened its approach to some of its rulings for fear of him going thru with it. The softened rulings gave FDR some cover to pull back on his threats and everyone moved on. Arguments are also made that much of his New Deal programs had run there course when this fight came to a head too, so everyone lost steam in the fight.
In theory I do not disagree with you, but Mitch does not care. Mitch broke the Senate when he refused an up or down vote on Merrick Garland. He has blocked bipartisan bills. Nothing matters to him except the judiciary and his success at molding into another right wing enterprise. He will attempt to push through a nominee and lose the Senate and WH. Once we are in charge, Dems should eliminate the filibuster and increase the size of the Court to at least 11.
Do the math. If the GOP gets another Justice to replace RBG, then they will have 6 seats.
11 is not good enough.
My vote is for 15, like Neal Kaytal.
Yes, that was a great photo - looks like he was greeting his granny.
Agree with everything there but 11, I say go big and leave the 1 vote margins in our rear view.
Collins Spokesperson: “The senator is overwrought with concern as she ponders your question…”
Because the current SCOTUS only has two justices that were willing to commit perjury in their confirmation hearings, that we know of?
The effing SCOTUS ruled that for-profit companies have religious beliefs that the government must respect. If Roberts is no longer needed for a majority vote, the current SCOTUS can do whatever they want.
This act is sorta old, isn’t it?
15 for the Queen.
It rhymes.
No precedent. No problem.
Trump just chimed in.
.@GOP We were put in this position of power and importance to make decisions for the people who so proudly elected us, the most important of which has long been considered to be the selection of United States Supreme Court Justices. We have this obligation, without delay!

Agree completely, But for me, he will always be “our President.” In all senses of the term. Even after he dies (but then of course, I will say he was always “our President.”
“It’s all about the content of his character and the reach of his compassion.” I cannot tell you how much your words mean to me, brother.
