Oath Keepers Member Suggested Coordination With Other Militia Groups Before Capitol Attack | Talking Points Memo

A member of the Oath Keepers militia gave substantial hints that he coordinated with other militia groups, such as the Proud Boys, ahead of then-President Trump’s incitement of the mob behind the deadly Capitol insurrection earlier this year, according to a new DOJ filing.

So: Conspiracy to commit sedition. And there were senators and congresspeople in on the conspiracy.

More aspirational than coordinating
but I take their point
also I’m a bit of a harsher judge
as I used to do production

“Trump said It’s gonna be wild!!! It’s gonna be wild!!! He wants us to make it WILD that’s what he’s saying,” Meggs wrote in Facebook messages on Dec. 22. “He called us all to the Capitol and wants us to make it wild!!!”

Not that I expect much, but I would like to see similar testimony at the sedition trial of the Tangerine Traitor.

The thing that keeps me up at night is imagine what would have happened if actual competent people were involved

Some congressional seditionists on burner phones to lawyers, even as we speak.

“Prosecutors obtained private messages sent by Meggs that reveal the key Oath Keepers member’s ‘extensive planning and financing’ ahead of the Capitol insurrection.”

Follow the money.

All the way to the US Supreme Court (and Justices’ wives) if necessary.

Helpful reminder that the boss of the Proud Boys was conveniently removed from the equation just before go time.

The “former” FBI informant.

But they got all the hasty reorg comms traffic that resulted.

Oh, I think they got a lot more, and that he was a plant from the start. And that we’re only now seeing the hints of exactly what he was delivering in real time to the government.

Yeah but even if they had been, what would they have accomplished? Have you thought about what would have happened if they’d caught the car?

I think you should sleep soundly.

Worst case?

The Dems only have a slim majority in the House, and were the minority in the Senate.

Had they killed a few Democratic House members, the Republicans would control both Chambers and could have voted to reject electoral votes.

Hell, we’ve seen hints even just recently, with folks talking about how they’re going to somehow recapture both Chambers before 2022.

Apparently, T**** sent invitations to EVERYBODY in the wingnut world.

If they had killed some Democrats there wouldn’t have been any questions left - Biden would still have been certified the winner and insurrectionists would be on trial for murder and the GOP would have been complicit and everyone would know it.

You know as well as I do without the military behind him he always had nothing, Proud Boys cannot take over a government and hold onto it.

Except that, since the House doesn’t immediately replace members, they could have gained the majority for the short term.

Not saying that that wouldn’t have led to total civil war, but there is a reasonable line of thought of just how they could get their desired result.

Think there are more shoes still to drop. Some people seemed to be pretty confident that something was going to happen that would change the outcome of the vote.

And remember, the military still hasn’t given satisfactory answers about why Flynn’s brother was actively blocking the deployments of NG until it went beyond his control to stop it.

No - you don’t get to murder your way into a majority. Nope I don’t see that at all.

That would be a real stretch, from corrupt C&C being able to delay action, to being able to order troops to support an insurrection. If that was the unstated implication…
