Lies, insults and violence are things that the GOP does.

Why blame the NYT for this?

Cotton is a smarmy, entitled, smug POS with no social skills and no following. Even his fellow Republican Senators don’t have much to do with him. Glad he is getting it all out there so we know exactly who and what he is. Loser.

It’s the NYT what does anyone expect? They have played the both sides are equal-whatabotism for years. They are the primary ones that did the character assassination of Hillary Clinton in 2016 with their daily BUT HER EMAILS front page mini dramas during the campaign. Who disgust me the most is Maggie Haberman who was the author of those daily alerts. What she didn’t tell the public was her mother worked for the Kushner family. At the end of the day when Clinton was cleared I didn’t read on the front page an apology from her. I often wondered if she was paid to post because she seems to have a cozy relationship with tRump and has had interviews with him. I gave up on the times a long time ago.
BTW: tomorrow the Times will come out with some sort of gee guys we really didn’t vet the opinion well but hey we’ll try to do better in the future.

Backlash, smacklash – this ‘opinion piece’ is aimed solely at Generalissimo von Chickenhawk and his followers. cottonmouth knows dear leader will lose in '20, and he’s trying to start attracting the disappointed cultists now while it’s still early, with an eye on 2024.

The Times’ opinion section has come under fire a number of times in recent months, especially around conservative columnist Bret Stephens’ work.

I think it’s personal.

EVERYTHING Tom Cotton (R, WalMart) does since about 2017 is designed to make himself President. Watch this charisma-free hack lie and cheat his way to prominence as he tries to assemble the GOP back from the ashes. An inevitable fistfight with Ted Cruz, who is trying to do the same thing, will be both amusing and pathetic. Harvard vs Princeton without cheerleaders.

also: why does the NYT not allow reader comments at the end of Cotton’s editorial? who makes this call?

Had the Times NOT run Cotton’s “editorial,” do you really believe that we would not have “heard” from their “side”? It is utter bullshit to say we “need” to “hear” from “all sides,” as if we hadn’t already heard from the “side” crying for authoritarianism: Trump on Twitter, Barr and Esper in televised conversations, Trump in the Rose Garden, all of FoxNews…

It’s ridiculous of you to say this is a First Amendment issue. All you are doing is reiterating the phony both-siderism that, obviously, influenced the Times’ astounding and infuriating editorial misjudgment.

No. If they do they will become the reverse Foxnews. If US Senators are advocating the deployment of active-duty troops against protesters then the Newspaper of record should publish it. That way there is no denying later that he was “misquoted” or some other bullshit.

You don’t have to read it, I could only read a few paragraphs before dismissing. He is comparing the current situation with the deployment of federal troops to enforce integration of schools.

So you whine about the 15%?

538 predicted there was a 75% chance for Clinton. That means that 1 of 4 times Grump wins.

Yeah, when I read the NYT on election day they were predicting Hilary would win in a landslide and I do remember them using that number. I kid you not.

How the hell does he twist logic to that extent?

So you blame the NYT for the 15% chance.

Go back to Stat 101.

Perhaps there is value in exposing the fascistic viewpoints of this pathetic dungvulture. For every person he brings to his side two or three will be appalled and reject his calamitous vision.
