Author and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman tore into President Trump on Monday morning for his recent racist attacks on four congresswomen of color, arguing that Trump is “talking about us” all.
About fucking time.
Somehow, some way, this will become evidence that the “left” is actually intolerant.

Someone needs to confront Trump and remind him that his mother came from that shithole Scotland.

My forbears came from a variety of shithole countries.

When my grandmother came from Ireland in 1881 it was really a ____hole country. Heck as she told me she couldn’t get a potato. I was in Ireland last week and there was plenty to eat. I guess it’s no longer in the _____hole category.

My parents emigrated from Poland after WW2; my mom spent some time in a work camp as a ‘guest’ of the Nazis.
After that war my parents got together in a British DP camp and they spent FOUR years waiting to be allowed into the US of A (Daddy had a relative in Chicago who promised housing and a job – and came thru). But the reason it took them four years to get here (“I” am an anchor baby) was the limit that the 1924 Immigration Law put upon immigrants from Poland).
So MY family is from Shithole Poland (I have made a vow to cuss less BUT I am using ‘his’ word) and MY family suffered from that policy.
Melania Knauss’ parents would never have made it here under the rules President Trump is now putting into force.
Just another morning waking up to read this stuff, get a big headache, take a calmative and try to be rational.
I think he is trying to kill us all. It just never ends.

The people challenging Trump are interested, passionate, informed and usually older Boomers and Xers.
Trump seems invincable. I know this because of the gallows humor and excessive caution and disclaimers on the posts of this site. So those who are optimistic run the risk of being singled out as “not realistic” (or worse).
But when Trump gets on the run and he weakens, THEN the rest of us pile on. That Hump of the Normal Curve.
Then we GOT him.
WE NEED TO EXPOSE THAT WHICH HE IS TAKING UNPRECEDENTED PAINS TO HIDE, AND, IF WE CONTINUE TO LOOK AT THAT PHENOMENON AS A TRUMP STRENGTH INSTEAD OF THE ACTIONS OF A THUG WHO NEEDS SWIFT JUSTICE FROM THE REMAINING ORGANS OF GOVERNMENT OVER WHICH HIS POWER IS WEAKER, THEN WE WILL HAVE FAILED OUR CHILDREN
Freidman is still a pompous, entitled, and racist columnist who stated that the Iraq war was a good thing because it told Muslim people to “suck on this.” This is what still passes for intelligent discourse among the ruling elite.
“Which part of this sentence don’t you understand?: You don’t think we care about our open society? You think this [terrorism] fantasy [you have]—we’re just gonna let it grow? Well, suck. on. this. That, Charlie, was what this war was about. We coulda hit Saudi Arabia….We coulda hit Pakistan. We hit Iraq because we could.”
Thousands of lives and a trillion dollars so Tom Friedman could tell us what the war was about.
Doesn’t Melania fit this description, isn’t she from a sh*thole country and isn’t she telling Americans what to do with her stupid “be best” campaign?
However implicitly, Friedman made the key and excellent point that a freak like Trump, who’s utterly clueless about how America is supposed to work and arguably does not even have a fully human psyche, does not get to say who’s normal and who’s strange, who’s part of the group and who’s an outsider. He’s the one who’s alien and strange.
This must mean we’re now one Friedman Unit away from the GOP renouncing the president.
