SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea blew up an inter-Korean liaison office building just north of the heavily armed border with South Korea on Tuesday, in a carefully choreographed, largely symbolic display of anger that puts pressure on Washington and Seoul amid deadlocked nuclear diplomacy.
Where is Kim Jong Un? His sister Kim Yo Jong announced this would happen and it did. What about those beautiful love letters between Trump and Kim Jong Un?
Although the building was empty and the North had previously signaled its plans to destroy it, the move is still the most provocative act by North Korea since it entered nuclear talks in 2018 after a U.S.-North Korean standoff had many fearing war.
Gee, I’d like to know what the secondmost provocative act was.
I guess Dear Leaders are having another lovers’ spat. I’d suggest that they get a room but looks like someone just blew it up. Is there a Trump Tower Pyongyang?
Whenever North Korea begins to feel neglected on the World Stage, they act up. These days, with competition from a global pandemic and Dennis Rodman’s people all stirred up, it makes a Hermit King feel like blowing some shit up.
Yep…umm…nothing to see here, amiright mofo tRumpsters? Maybe another love letter will do the trick. Maybe tRump can go back to S. Korea and put his big toe over the DMZ and all will be better. Maybe someone needs to kiss someone’s boo-boo. So what’s the plan? Let’s ask Esper if he’s not fired by Friday. Btw, is S. Korea still our ally against the north or did tRump do away with that too? I’m confused. I thought things were going swimmingly and tRump had fixed all this.
I apologize in advance…snark only works for me after I’ve had my second cuppa joe.
The Kims know that with the protests, the covid pandemic and his reelection campaign, the Dotard has way to much on his hands, after all he is a guy whose idea of multitasking is tweeting, breathing and not soiling himself.
The Kims are going to raise hell and try to extract all kinds of concessions from now to November. They are going to give the blowhard-in-chief a nasty lesson on the art of the deal.
From what I read in today’s NYT article, it’s not about Trump at all. They gave up on him a year ago. It’s about deteriorating relations with South Korea. They’re pissed that activists in the South are floating balloons over the border with anti-Kim messages, and that the South hasn’t followed through with funding a joint tourist resort project. The North is desperate for the income.
Trump doesn’t really factor into it, because what they wanted from him was removal of sanctions and they didn’t get it. What they’re doing now is just the usual posturing, the equivalent of a kid throwing their toys out of the pram. They might escalate to lobbing some artillery at a low-value target in the South, or do a few more missile tests, but if they did anything with actual impact militarily they would be crushed. And they know it.
I guess the Kims figure that a guy that can’t find his mouth for a drink of water, can’t find his ass with both hands and a GPS either. And they intend to take full advantage.
I know, I just can’t resist poking fun at both lunatic leaders. What do you think would happen if they shot the balloons down? I suppose that would technically be an act of aggression. What if they directed strong lasers or magnifying mirrors at them, to poke holes in them?
Their laser and giant mirror tech probably isn’t up to the job. A classic low-tech Nork solution would be giant fans, to blow the balloons back over the border. Operated by slave labor running on treadmills if necessary.
They’ve been steadily ratcheting up tensions with South Korea for awhile now. Could be they are feeling neglected, or it could be that they are testing South Korea’s readiness during the pandemic, or it could be that they are testing to see what they can get away with in the void that Trump has caused, before a new President takes office.
