“I think it was an interesting approach to have a novel approach to have a national Republican committee take a position like that. So, this not a support or oppose, this is just an observation that I thought that was novel and unique.”
This is something I would expect to hear from a beauty pageant contestant as a “personal statement”.
I’ll bet she also wants to help stray animals and kids with learning difficulties, then go on to work for world peace.
I agree with your assessment.
To an opthalmologist, leprosy of the eye may be ‘interesting’ and ‘novel,’ but that says nothing about whether you’d like to, or like for someone else to, have it.
Chris Hayes is right: it’s flat out evasion.
Military Order of The Purple Heart is incensed by convention prank by Morton Blackwell, who distributed bandages marked with Purple Hearts to mock Sen Kerry’s war wounds; group’s national commander Robert N Lichtenberger says his members are…
“The bandages, distributed by Morton Blackwell of Arlington, Va., included a message that read, “It was just a self-inflicted scratch, but you see I got a Purple Heart for it.” Mr. Blackwell said he was only trying to have fun, but the Military Order of The Purple Heart, an organization that says it represents wounded veterans, was not amused.”
They have used the power to disqualify candidates from the ballot many times in the past, albeit not for participation in an insurrection. And I don’t expect there will be any direct evidence of actual participation, but it will nevertheless be fun to put Maddie under oath to explain himself (and it’s his burden to prove he’s qualified). If all he did was give his dumb speech at the Ellipse, he will and should be allowed onto the ballot.
That quote from Lummis was one of the stupidest fucking things I’ve ever read in my entire life. And I’ve read articles by David Brooks, Ross Douthat, and Jonah Goldberg, so I should know.
