Dude you really need to chill the f out. You have no idea what my school district or my community was like when I went to school. I was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Brooks’ sociology class when I was either a Jr or Sr. in HS in the late '70s. Mrs. Brooks, not to be confused with Miss Brooks my 3rd grade teacher, was born and raised in my community, and by the way she was A/A. I learned the history of my community during segregation. I learned how that started to change. But you seem to think that because I learned one interesting piece of history a after I graduate HS and college that I was only taught white supremacist propaganda.

Not everything is about you specifically. You’re just not that important or interesting.
I’m talking about the overall gist of American history that has been taught in this country in the last 40 years or so is bent toward appeasing white people, toward whitewashing the inconvenient or horrific parts of it.
My grade school history books in the mid 70s had entire sections on unions. There were break out sections on the goon squads Ford and GM sent out to murder striking workers. I even remember a profile of Samuel Gompers in the same book, Go ahead and google Samuel Gompers. I defy anyone under the age of 60 to tell me who he was.
As for your learning, awesome. I already applauded that. But do me a favor. Read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Read Son of the Morning Star. Read Mayflower. Read Quannah Parker. Look up the Mountain Meadow Massacre. Look up the Sand Creek Massacre and if you can find any school districts in this country that teach any of that let me know.
Hell, most of us are only just learning about Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921.
So instead of being defensive, keep reading. There’s a long and ugly road ahead of you.

i read about the MOUNTAIN MEADOW massacre in a SIMON WINCHESTER book.I was raised in CANADA, so learned a lot of AMERICAN history from books i read to my kids. the is a lot of ugly past events in the USA… is it all happeneing again?
