I just read some Einstein’s comment on another site about how after doing his own research, he’d come to the conclusion that it was all a hoax cooked up by Dems to tank the economy and be able to blame Trump so they can win the election. Now why didn’t we all think of that! It makes so much sense, Dems obviously having the pull to shut down thousands of flights and tourist attractions across the globe and get governments to quarantine millions of people. It’s all beginning to make sense! KAG!

One can only hope the crusty old fans of St. Ronald finally end up with someone coming to their door and saying, ā€œI’m from the government, and I’m here to help.ā€

We’ll probably hear the cognitive dissonance all the way out here in the blue states.

I’d just like to have a better idea what is actually going on in NYC.
Been staying around my apartment for the weekend and nothing seems any different in this part of the city but I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
I’m guessing things will look about the same when I go to Midtown for work tomorrow but can’t really tell from what I’m reading so far.

Well, bizarre leadership almost always results in bizarre outcomes. I hope at least this resolves the question of whether he’s crazy or not. We now know that in a crisis he wouldn’t drop the act and start responding normally. He’s instead demonstrating a crisis-level degree of abnormality, continuing to work behind the scenes to prevent normal, rational, and direly necessary countermeasures from being taken, because they would make him look bad, at the literal expense of human lives. He’s as crazy as any comic-book supervillain.

Okay, I’m assuming that the CDC contracts with private companies to actually manufacture these test kits but I cannot find a single article that talks about the facilities/companies. Since it’s the Trump administration, would it be surprising to find that the insistence on using the CDC’s own test and not the WHO test that was already available Is because someone is making a lot of money from a huge government contract?

Just FYI there are now confirmed cases in Pennsylvania and the governor has signed a similar disaster emergency declaration. I’m sure most folks know it doesn’t mean there are bodies in the streets. They’ll do it before pretty normal stuff, like a big blizzard, so that the relevant agencies can get the money and whatever else they need right away without a lot of red tape. Might be price-gouging regulations too, depends on the state. With the feds out of action I’m glad I live in a relatively competent state, I can tell you that. I wonder what red-state governors who need the feds more than I presume we do are thinking right now.

ā€œIt is therefore important for us, at this critical time, to stress just how much the stock market is starting to look very good and to recommend to all CPAC attendees that they should think seriously about buying these dips.ā€

There are narcissists and then there are Trump level narcissists. Putting the health and lives of other people on the line in a direct and immediate sense purely for ego driven reasons is as about a toxic form of narcissism as you could get. People who deny healthcare to others based on financial or political reasons are toxic. To put people at direct risk for purely ego reasons is next level.

Why not? I can think of many, especially those who are endangering society.
