New Sanctions On Manafort Deputy Suggest Deeper Role Of Russian Intel In 2016 | Talking Points Memo

The Biden administration slapped Konstantin Kilimnik, an assistant of Paul Manafort and alleged Russian spy, with sanctions on Thursday as it escalated economic measures against Moscow.

So, a couple of extremely basic questions:
Is this guy reachable?
Is there a side door to get Manafort here?

The amazing thing about the Mueller Investigation is how quickly and thoroughly William Barr altered it and ultimately stopped it.

And how quickly we have forgotten about Mueller. Most of what I read about Mueller on this site is negative and/or negatively portrayed…and…mostly…forgotten.

No and no.

ETA: The Kilimnick stuff is not a way to get past the pardon. I expect that the tax and fraud stuff will be.

declined to draw a conclusion on what Kilimnik ultimately did with the polling data,

forgive the tired cliche, but if it walks like a duck,…

Everyone. Literally everyone knows exactly what Kilimnik did with the data. I expect we will see more of this. One way to put significant of pressure on Putin is to put pressure on the oligarchs who make his rule possible. And the US has the ability to squeeze them like bugs.

But the people in that picture all look like such nice white folks and they are all smiling, except for the guy standing in front of the TV. I am sure they didn’t do anything bad.

Yeah, initially, I thought this was old news:

What’s changed is apparently its more or less confirmed what we all suspected at the time - The polling data was shared with the Russia government.

Wake me up when they sanction Zuck for micro-tarketing based on that polling data and getting paid in rubles.

In announcing the move, the Treasury Department suggested that Kilimnik gave internal Trump campaign polling data to Russian intelligence during the 2016 election.

Yes, it’s about time this was “suggested.”

Impeachment obviously did not work but the whole escapade – Trump’s 2016 campaign – should not simply be forgotten.

A report from the Senate Intelligence Committee released in August 2020 declined to draw a conclusion on what Kilimnik ultimately did with the polling data

Yes, that was … cute.

So nice to have non-traitors in charge again.

I didn’t learn anything from this article. It is ground that has been covered before. My only question: is there a way we can put Bill Barr in prison. He is not only ethically challenged, but it sounds like he and his gang actively aided the Russian intelligence services by turning a blind eye to Kilimnik’s spying.

Kilimnik? Not really, unless he’s a lot less clever than I give him credit for.

I really would like to be a fly on the wall in AG Garland’s office.

Fix the photo caption…unless Kilimnik really looks like a young child.

“Suggested.” Really, just “suggested”? Oh, that sounds definite!

They “suggest” things when they want to imply they’re true, without actually having to prove they’re true, or be held to account if they end up being false.

And then you just run with it, assuming the “suggestion” is true, as intended.

Confirmation that the Trump campaign sought and received unprecedented help from a foreign enemy, which likely led directly to his victory in 2016. Micro targeting played no small role in his eking out wins in the swing states.

And we all know how Trump governed with regards to Russia over his four year term. McConnell did a grave disservice to this country by not convicting him and ensuring he never run for federal office again.

Yes, it’s as bad as we all thought it was, and likely worse. Much worse.

Rachel Maddow used to often remark how astounded Judges who managed these #trumprussia cases were when they saw the full files. The Manafort-Kilimnik relationship was one of those which stunned Judge Jackson. Mueller had the goods but let the country down. He didn’t pursue charges involving a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act even though his evidence pointed right to it. Rosenstein probably guided him away from such inflammatory charges, which is another layer of corruption from the Trump era. This is validating in part for everything we all suspected back then, but it’s insufficient. Manafort, Kilimnik and Rudy should be put on trial for this. It is the crime of the century.

Treason is such an ugly word…

Seriously, what the f—k did anyone ever think Kilimnik did with the polling data? It’s like “discovering” that Bernie Madoff used funds from his pyramid scheme to buy one of his six houses.
