We always ‘knew’ this but it nice to have it confirmed…
I’ve been reading her work for so long I feel as if I know her. It’s somewhat of a shock to me.
It seems to me that using this in practice to overturn votes would be ….really really messy. There would be a whole new level of shit-fan-interaction when this gets applied.
SFI is a seriously under-reported problem.
The near daily news of more corruption, more criming, bigger & better abuses of power by the orange dotard and 90+% of gop elected officials or appointed ones takes a toll on anyone paying attention. And that’s my worry. Will the weariness of bad political news drive too many people away from paying attention and harm our chances in 2022 &2024? I suppose there are ways to measure this, polling, etc., but are more potential voters getting their info on Faux News & cohorts than getting factual news stories as anti-trumpers tend their gardens after cooling it on watching /reading TPM and similar outlets? For instance, McConnell says no SC appointments for Biden in 2024, maybe 2023, if he becomes majority leader after the 2022 elections and there seems to have been a 24 hour bump of interest in that story! We on the left of center have got a major, major fight to protect and preserve democracy. I trust we can do it…
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) “left the door wide open to a potential state takeover of Fulton County’s election board when asked about it during a visit to South Georgia,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
A good reminder that although Raffensperger did push back against Trump’s attempt at corrupting the 2020 GA election outcome, Raffensperger is still a Republican. They prefer to control the process before the election rather than try to rig the result afterwards.
The same way that he doesn’t care about truth or falsity, he really doesn’t care about guilt or innocence. He does whatever he feels like in the moment that will get him the result he wants and if it happens to be “illegal,” that’s not really a consideration. The government will occasionally put up road-blocks and say “You can’t legally do that,” but he just blunders on anyway because like everything else, he’s been able to make it go away with money or the threat of spending money up till now.
Until he’s honestly facing putting on the orange jumpsuit, nothing is going to make him believe that he can’t just keep on doing whatever he feels like. He’s never faced a consequence for his “bad” acts in his adult life.
Are these Trumpy DOJ’er still at DOJ? If so, they should be summarily fired and sent on their way. The DOJ needs to ‘sanitize’ the DOJ of any and all Trumpy’s. As in NOW !
…before Pak announced his departure, he spoke to a top DOJ official…on behalf of the White House to express Trump’s displeasure with Pak’s refusal to gin up investigations into supposed voter fraud…
A brave Ferengi Republican. Who would have thought it possible…?"
Is it not possible to make arrests and bring to trial the corrupt White House and DoJ officials who were making threats to elections officials and manipulating the election results? There is not a need to go after Skanky Groper. Just go after the filthy whores that were doing Skanky’s bidding.
Donaghue responded to that note: “You are a class act, my friend. Thank you.”
Resigning by 8am, January 4, opened up the position for the “teamplayer” two days before 1/6, enough time for a hail mary fraud charge??
Pak could’ve remained obstinate one more day to foil the plot.
I learned really early that you don’t put anything in an e-mail that you wouldn’t want to see on the front page of the NYT. That goes double if it’s on an employer’s machine.
GOPers need to wake up and smell the roses! Trump has hoodwinked them all at their expense.
The rank corruption of the Trump administration is really pouring out today…it was a naked power grab, they were trying everything in the book to stay in control. It’s really a surprise that Jan 6th wasn’t more organized…maybe Trump and his minions figured they would pull off their coup attempt without requiring bloodshed using the states, and so didn’t actually plan for a violent overthrow of Congress. Or, we just haven’t seen those emails yet…what we have seen really looks like it could lead to legal trouble for some people, and that may lead us to the rest of what happened in the attempt to overthrow the government.
Make no mistake, this really was an attempt at overthrowing the election, and many Republicans were involved directly from all over the nation. If there weren’t enough willing to stand for democratic principles they may have succeeded…and the Republican party is trying very hard to push all of those patriotic Republicans aside so that their coup can succeed next time. All of this needs to be investigated and publicized so that the majority of Americans can stop Republicans from achieving their dictatorship.
And, congratulations to @tierney on her new position! Her articles are a big reason why I’m here, TPM does an excellent job on reporting about voting issues…hopefully CNN is smart enough to make a big push on this in the next year, we’re going to need it.
Don’t forget Lindsey!
Yeah everyone who thought it would be in their best interests to aid and abet this admin. should be looking at charges, not just dumpster.
Yep - that’s what I think happened with the Mueller report. Due to leaks (my guess from trump’s side) we already knew about all the awful things that happened, jr’s trump tower etc and thus we were all like yeah nothing new that can’t be obstruction of justice since we’ve known it for months and nothing happened.
I cannot speak for Boomers in general as I was out of the country a lot with little American TV…basically treated to comic books, tall tales, movies and books…
But, for me, as an American kid, “reporter” carried with it a similar constellation of characteristics as a good detective, in the stuff I was exposed to.
I remember seeing a list one time of TPM alum and I’ve got to say she’s joining some great company. CNN is truly lucky to have her.
